the lower expectations the more possibilities of impress people . . . . . the higher expectations the more possibilites of deception and disappointment.

Yes, this will be an unexpected game changer...350k+ #1 debut for sure...matching ff era sales in the first month.

I wonder if that will be added in her legacy.
I'm afraid of what other songs will do:
Crazy...promoting mental illness
Oops...promoting continued mistakes. You can't just have one dui
Slave...promoting the resurgence of mind control...illuminati realness
Not a girl...promoting transgender realness
Toxic...promoting date rape realness
Gimme more...promoting obesity
Piece of me...promoting orgy realness
Break the.ice...promoting panda endangerment in anartica realness
Radar...promoting inappropriate beastiality realness
If u seek Amy...promoting stalker realness
Scream and shout...serving temper tantrum realness.
Britneys songs are so universal.
The triple entendre is real.

" In the zone" was her peak as an Artist (dancing skills, performing, songwriting, artistry, producing, visionary, creativity, forward-thinking).

But that jump from OIDIA to Britney was huge. It just proved that half of her fan base were children. Imagine if she stayed with her sweet image? She'd probably have 3-5 15m+ WW sellers.

She wouldn't have a career. She needed to reinvent herself to cater to a LATE teen young adult crowd. The sales wouldn't have been worth it.

But Britney was not even that much of a deviation from her innocent image. The DWAD tour was flooded with tons of innocent childish themes and the album itself had kid friendly songs like That's Where You Take Me, Bombastic Love, Cinderella, Anticipating, I'm Not a Girl etc. and the only 2 overtly sexual songs were Slave and Boys but for the most part she maintained a clean image. ITZ was the full fledged adult transition, Britney just kinda paved the way.
I think the album sale decline is due simply to the fact that people were moving away from the teen pop resurgence and going back to a more urban/R&B sound and that hurt Britney and her dance-pop oriented music. Not because her fan base was mostly children.

What about 'Britney' was an under-performance? The singles performed terribly worldwide and it still managed 10m+ units. It birthed DWAD, a huge tour for her. I don't believe that it's unknown that her progression in image sabotaged a lot of her appeal, as it does for anyone transitioning like that. So that's really not a point to prove, it's just obviously there and always noted when discussing her transition, rather here or in the media. She still has the most successful transition period, compared to other teen queens who tried to move on.
4th best-selling is not bad at all. Britney's albums always suffered on year-end charts (by suffered I mean not being able to be as high as we all know they sold) because she released in November. Therefore, a large bulk of the front-loaded sales did not count when the new year starts. And nobody has sold 10 million worldwide in a very long time, except ADELE's 21. The average is 5-6 million. There are not that many 10m+ albums in general, not post-2000.
And just to note 2001-2002 was the time physical CD sales dropped off sharply, so her image transition was not the only thing to blame.

Yes, Britney should have had 5 singles...this wa her transition from teen queen to young adult. She covered the sexual curiousity, teen angst, crossroads period with her singles bit needed Cinderella as a segue into her not ever coming back to bubblegum pop. I remember her behind the music where ssome a r guy said it was clear she wouldn't comeback the same with her 4th album using Cinderella music in the background. It was the first time i saw the potential. For me,
Slave then not a girl, then Overprotected, then boys original beat featuring pharrell, then Cinderella to close the album.
Tbh she should have had 5th singles for albums 4-7 (breathe on me, freakshow, unusual you, up n down)

Such an underrated performance and she should perform two songs like that for her live shows..sing one song for 1m live and then pull of a dance.number for the second song.
