Yeah, that's basically what it is. And yeah, the whole sexual experience feels better without a condom (not ashamed to say that), but long-term health is way more important than short-term pleasure. And even I can recognize this as a top with less of a chance to contract HIV.

It's when a guy is topping with a condom and breaks it on purpose when close to the edge.

There have always been ways of sabotaging condoms. Whether it's women poking holes in condoms to get pregnant or whatever. What's really bad is when the condom slips off and ends up inside. That happened to me once. I looked down and it was gone. I kept going. I mean I figured there would be a cleanup anyway so why stop.


But yes, to anybody reading this, always supply your own condoms when you're bottoming. Don't trust the top to not be a "giver", somebody who knows they're HIV+ and goes around with the goal of infecting others. Also, be aware of the expiration date printed on the package (the condom, not the penis) and never keep condoms in your wallet. That will wear them down and it won't be as effective

In urbanized cities, all races of people typically know what sex is way before they are taught so in schools, and in black communities, unprotected sex is more common due to an overall higher rate of poverty. Who is going to buy all of those condoms when you have to worry about saving up to eat dinner every night? Are you going to walk to the nearest planned parenthood offices to get free ones? Oh, that's being defunded, sorry! The mental choice needs to be made to abstain from sex if you don't have a condom, or risk getting and spreading HIV. This also comes down to education, obviously, and black communities tend to have the least funded public schools in the nation.

So, am I surprised? No. However, please vote for someone who wants to change this, like any of the Democratic presidential nominees. Any candidate that doesn't take sexual education in minority communities seriously will only make this problem worse, and anyone that wants to defund Planned Parenthood is a complete idiot, as this issue so clearly demonstrates a need for it.

I don't think it has anything to do with being poor or underprivileged but its pretty well known that black and Latino families are far more homophobic than white families. The culture is NOT accepting of gays at all and if they are they don't talk about it.This can lead to a lot of loneliness and confusion and sneaking around. They probably tend to have more discreet, quick and unprotected sexual encounters than perhaps their white counterparts. especially when they are young.

There is no data to back up these claims that lgbtq who are sneaking around are having unprotected sex. People are trying to associate dl when most of the dls would never admit to being gay in the first place....so they wouldn't show up in the msm numbers.

One of the most infuriating things about being a queer black male is the fact you have to CONSTANTLY deal with the seemingly never-ending barrage of attacks and false accusations about how black people are more innately homophobic than any other group on the rest of the planet.

No matter how many times I state facts, news articles or just point simple common sense, I still get told that I don’t know what I’m talking about. These people are experts on a culture and a race that they are not affiliated with.

Shockingly 99 percent of the people who do this are white.


What’s even more shocking that while everyone has an opinion on blacks/LGBTQs/and homophobia, it’s rare that anyone ever asks queer blacks on our perspectives in existing in both minorities.

The black community has been church goers for as long as this country has been around and I do feel that is also where some of the issues with homophobia are.

I think you can discuss a valid issues without blowing it out of proportion and making it sound like there aren't any black LGBT people. The argument is very flawed and makes black LGBT feel alienated cause they have people always coming up to them asking about homophobia.

Less than half of all individuals with HIV even know they have it so.... The people who've been diagnosed over a period of time have seen elevated levels of being black or hispanic. I'd caution people that correlation doesn't equal causation. We need more than < 50% to make something out of the numbers.

Lets say the numbers do hold... clearly the attempts at educating black youths are not working. There is no lack of educational resources available from the stand point of HIV prevention yet rates continue to rise and people keep claiming they need more education when what's available hasn't had an effect on those minorities based on the available numbers. So what else is the cause... Maybe education simply isn't enough to stop people from having unprotected sex.

There needs to be different options tried. People are always focused on sex outside of a allegedly monogamous relationship when maybe people need to target monogamous relationships for safe sex, testing and prevention as well need to be tried. Secondly, get rid of the HIV stigma and the language that singles people out for judgement and "punishment" as another tool to make people feel safe getting tested and treated. The treatments work.... people need to know their status and use treatments without others shaming them.
