I'm not sure if these are accurate, I just wrote what I thought seemed right based on memory. Katy having 4/6.
Just watched the Last Friday Night and Birthday videos back to back. It's so clear that they tried to make it a LFN 2.0; the talking intro, the break in the middle, the inclusion of a remix, the "funny" ending during the credits.
There are still things they could have changed about the Birthday video and it would have done better. Remove the Yosef and Ace characters for a start.
The reason I don't want her working with Max is because she needs to step away from the current stream of hits and craft her own sound that's still poppy but not CURRENT poppy. She needs to set the next pop trend again like she did with Dark Horse... only keep the sound consistent throughout the album. We don't need her buying Max's 1989 rejects like everyone else on the radio
Of course they care. First and foremost they want something that is going to bring in the dollars for them. If they think Luke and Max are guaranteed to do that, they'll encourage her to work with them.
Katy is Capitol's biggest artist. There's mutual respect between the label and Katy(see: The chairman said that Katy can take his position when he retires). The KP4 direction and collaborators are up to Katy, not Capitol.

The last time they let Katy have her way, Unconditionally became the second single (underperformance), Birthday didn't have a sexy video (flop, lyric video outstreamed it 2-1) and Legendary Lovers/WoA never saw the light of day. They stepped in and made her release Dark Horse when she clearly didn't want it as a single at first because they saw its potential.
Katy had more freedom with PRISM because she was coming off the mega successful Teenage Dream era and it was their way of thanking her, I guess. Hopefully next era Capitol are more insistent the next time she wants to make one of her favourite songs a single when it's clearly not single material and they put the foot down. Just because Katy wants something doesn't mean it's the right thing to do all the time. There's give and take in every relationship, and Katy's relationship with her label should be no exception.

Birthday was a perfect single choice so let's leave it there. Uncle and TIHWD choices on the other hand were not. And it's both Katy's and Capitol's fault. Also, do you have receipts that Capitol insisted on making WOA and LL singles?

Birthday was going to be the third single but they pushed it back again to let Dark Horse have its time. All your receipts being based on goldsoundz's "leaks" (If the Oct 23 or Nov 6 release is true though I will apologize to him). And Katy herself said that LL will be a single, not Capitol. We don't know the background storyl, in other words, who decided to not make LL the 5th or 6th single.

I remember the Princess, old woman, animal trainer and Jewish stereotype, but no Kris. What does he/she do in the video?
