how is adele influenced by bey? her music? I don't think so, her style? Bey doesn't sit in a chair with such conservative dresses. Don't mistake admiration and inspiration with influence,if adele or anyone else was really influenced by bey then she wouldn't need to say she is, the music would have said so.
I love this part So many Bey stans can't tell the difference.
I say we wait for a few years when the success has dimmed out(or when she retires) quite a lot and see what people brand her as then . For now I can't really see her as being immensely R&B and she seems to have more Pop fame than R&B with her songs. She will definitely end up in a Madonna / Michael type of Iconicness in the end though.
MJ is incomparable but is there anyone deeming MJ the king of r&B or referring to him as such.
I thought it was clear that MJ was the king of pop and he had rock and r&B and hip hop influences.
whereas Beyonce is r&b with pop influences every now and again.
He's an entertainer and a genius musician but the GP would categorize him properly referring to him as pop moreso than r&b his discography backs that up.
Looking at Beyonce's discography you get r*b with pop undertones every now and again but the root is r&b.
I don't see MJ having the root of r&b in songs like Dirty diana, another part of me, smooth criminal, human nature, leave me alone, etc.
I thought it was known Queen of Pop Madonna King of pop Michael
You're getting to technical with the wording. I wasn't trying to break down what they are, just state that Beyonce has more than crossed over, thus she is not just one thing or genre to people. I agree she is more R&B influenced than Michael and often makes pure R&B songs, even when the trends state you shouldn't, but she is still a popstar, first and foremost. And she is one that is highly revered, as MJ was, and thus is often incomparable. She doesn't quite fit into R&B (with Mary, Brandy, Whitney, Aaliyah, Monica, etc.) nor pure pop (Katy, Britney, Gaga) but she exists within both worlds.

Okay let's look at the differences (and similarities)
Influence
a person or thing that affects someone or something in an important way
Inspiration
something that makes someone want to do something or that gives someone an idea about what to do or create : a force or influence that inspires someone
I'd say they are quite similar and any perceived differences is splitting hairs in hopes that because Adele never actually said the word "influence" that it's just an inspiration and therefore is worthless.

Disagree. She's a lot more R&B than Whitney IMO. I think it's the other way around. She's an R&B first and foremost with pop undertones in some of her music. 4 out of 5 of her albums are R&B.
"She's been a huge and constant part of my life as an artist since I was about 10 or 11. I love how all of her songs are about empowerment. Even when she's married and Jay-Z put a ring on it, she releases 'Single Ladies.' Go get yours. Go get what you deserve. I think she's really inspiring."
How are you not influenced by someone if you are inspired by them? It's really the same thing and if there is a difference, it's not large enough to act haughty about.
I'm inspired by Victor Hugo and his work but I'm not influenced by him?
how does that part you quoted make bey a blueprint for R&B artists?

What is so revolutionary about Mary other than being a female R. Kelly, that sings about hood struggles instead of sex & love?
You need to learn your music history. MJB is cited as the most influential r&b female artist in the past 25 years. She further unified two distinct genres of r&b and hip hop, which created an entire new genre hip hop soul. The whole swag of a woman from the streets who could ride a hip hop beat, but still stay r&b is still ever present today. Don't believe me then go listen to Jazmone Sullivan, Monica, Keyshia Cole, K Michelle, Ashanti, Keri Hilson, Letoya, Beyonce etc....
Don't believe me watch a documentary on the HISTORY of black music and it's impact. This entire episode is dedicated to MJB and how she changed the entire genre of r&b to what we know it as today:
And also its true people tend to see Whitney as being more of an influence than Mariah. I guess its mostly because of Whitneys mature image in comparison to Mariah whom some people found it hard to take seriously. However I think most people tend to not know that creatively Mariah was far greater than Whitney and I don't think someone who's looked at both their writing/production credits would disagree with this.

Admiration* Not you confusion the two again when trying to clock me. It's like it literally does not compute with y'all

Well the music still sucks so it's nothing to be proud of.
What is so revolutionary about Mary other than being a female R. Kelly, that sings about hood struggles instead of sex & love?
Are you serious?!? There's a reason why she's known as the queen of hip hop soul. One of the first artists to infuse R&B music with the hip hop. The same concept Mariah Carey later infused with her sound.
Admiration* Not you confusion the two again when trying to clock me. It's like it literally does not compute
Technically we are both right.
You said, "Don't mistake admiration and inspiration with influence". I only compared inspiration but please don't act like I twisted your words when I very clearly used your words. If you're going to chose a word to use, you should be ready to back it up when the time comes. Do you still think there is a difference between inspiration and influence?

It has nothing to really do with image the fact is Whitney came out earlier and broke down even more barriers/had a bigger influence on the progression music despite having no writing credits. So Mariah can have all the creativity when it comes strictly to writing and producing.
__________
@Javan it is impressive whether you like it or not. Doesn't take away from the facts of how influential her music is on basically damn near every female r&b singer in her wake.
Brandy and Aaliyah more impact than Bey? The delusion.
I'd say yes only because she is a new breed of R&B. She influenced R&B vocal performances with her rapid fire singing that only became a staple after Destiny's Child made it their signature sound. There really hasn't been another R&B singer that is like her, that has the charisma she does, the full package(being able to sing and dance) AND has reached such a high level of success. Hence why all reality talent shows all cite that they are looking for "The next Beyonce" and why her songs always get covered several times a season.
Yet you think she is the most influential? Makes sense...
