So by TMTURKEY his/her logic, Brandy only happened because of Moesha
WRONG AGAIN, Brandy didn't even get the Moesha gig until AFTER her debut which she was known for and she was on Thea another sitcom 3 years before Moesha was even a thought

oh please who cares if Brandy or Monica sold more, it's the impact that matters, Aaliyah changed the game back then with Timbo and Missy, no shade or anything because I have nothing against Brandy but nobody want to be her these days, she inspires some artists vocally but that's it, meanwhile we get at least 2 new 'Aaliyahs' every year, Mila J, Zendaya, Tinashe just for 2014, people still talk about her, want to look like her etc. after 13 years!
I mean even Brandy herself admitted that BabyGirl was the 'IT' girl and she was there, why we still have this discussion

R. Kelly Scandal?
If that were true, his 1995 album (R.Kelly) would've flopped, but it debuted at #1 and had 2 top 10's.

If it's the impact that matters, Brandy wins without a doubt. Artists can dress and look like Aaliyah as much as they want, but guess what? Brandy has ALL the vocal influence. Brandy basically set the blueprint for a child star with a music career. She is the one that they should be like.
"Nobody wants to see her nowadays" but millions of people tune in to the Game to watch her and attend her concerts. She just performed at the African American Festival yesterday, and slayed.
AND LOL AT YOU LISTING TINASHE!!! Tinashe herself has stated she isn't inspired by Aaliyah and never grew up listening to her music
-Jazmine Sullivan
-Jessica Sanchez
-Rihanna
-Ariana Grande
-Red Hot Chilli Peppers
-India.Arie
All of the above have STATED they are greatly inspired by Brandy's vocals, along with countless other artists. Brandy is humble, and is ALWAYS giving artists credit. She also said that after Aaliyah's death

That explains why her career declined a couple years after Moesha
After Moesha was done. Brandy was done. Her last prime was Full Moon and you know it.
Meanwhile, Aaliyah is standing the test of time and still being emulated......

I'm so tired of people trying to discredit Aaliyah because of stale receipts and Wikipedia numbers. Sure other females were outselling her but none of them was outshining her. She just never had a real label or a good team. Her physical singles were sloppy and poorly timed limited releases and her promo was US restricted and basic

this is my cue to leave the thread. Delusion + subjective opinions being argued against facts, receipts, and numbers. Aaliyah was NEVER a better singer than Beyoncé. Fix it, Jesus.

.. K at you denying Aaliyah's impact.. a girl who's getting a controversial biopic made about her 13 years later..

A mess
Brandy wasn't riding off of the success of Moesha, especially when her album AND Moesha came out at around the same time. And even her having a hit show doesn't guarantee her success. If that was the case, Victoria justice would be huge right now. And no, she wouldn't have towered over Brandy. She even released an album before brandy's second album, & Brandy was still overshadowing her. The nerve.

Girl. You mean the third album, as in the one she died during? Of course it's going to sell a lot. The idiocy

Artist claim Aaliyah as a vocal influence
Beyoncé stans themselves had said Aaliyah's Ave Maria was better than Bey's as a grown woman and better than most of Bey's singing as a child
But I'm sleep though

Meanwhile Put It Down went top 3 on Urban
Brandy always had presence though. After Moesha, she still had endorsements, covered magazines, released albums, gained attention from critics, starred in films and is now currently on one the highest rated show on BET.
Stay upset at Brandy, her success.

Sis. Aaliyah has passed away. OF COURSE she's "standing the test of time"
Besides, this is about the 90's. Not the 2000's.

You post that, but you also fail to see this:
Why would anyone invite someone to a stadium if they were such a flop and a non-event? It was THEIR fault no one knew Brandy was there.
Wow. Aaliyah gets a biopic, meanwhile Brandy is working on a new sitcom which MAY be a spin-off to Moesha.
But this argument is silly.
