flopping? the album was out just for 6 weeks, who knows how much it would sell if Aaliyah didn't die? as fas I know it was her fastest selling album, so it would definitely end up selling more
why you use tv show from BET as an argument? where they even let Ciara to appear?
yeah I know, ever white girl who's sexy and scandalous is the next Madonna, means that Madonna owned 'that look' like Aaliyah owned tomboy style, what Brandy 'owned'? what was her thing? something that screams 'Brandy'? i'm just asking
nobody glorifies Aaliyah, there are so many people who are dead but nobody really talks about them anymore, just because
if Aaliyah didn't do anything iconic when she was alive, then we wouldn't even have this discussion, she stand the test of time and she's dead for 13 years, Brandy didn't do anything special during these years, Aaliyah at least would have mega hit The Matrix that's for sure

Moesha is an iconic and massively successful sitcom revolving around a teenage black girl growing up in the suburbs of Santa Monica. It's still very popular and re-runs are still played on many channels (BET, WCIU, Centric etc.)
All I know is, the album was failing to meet the expectations the label set on it. It may have been her fastest selling, but the amount they put into the project was way more than what was being put out. You can't compare the red album to OIAM or AANBAN because even with her death, her other two albums sold much better.
106 & Park is actually iconic and a huge platform many artists used to get their careers started. In Kanye's debut song he says "I wanna be on 106 & Park pushin' a benz"
What "screams" Brandy are her signature braids and her powerhouse vocals and godlike runs.
Aaliyah died young and was a staple in the Black community; they're the only ones that still use her and bring her up.
"Brandy didn't do anything special in 13 years"

How about the Top 10 single in 2002, or her Critically acclaimed masterpiece: Afrodisiac, or her Urban Smash Put It Down, or her role on one of the highest rated sitcoms on BET, The Game, or her own reality show with her brother Ray J, or her performance at the Essence Festival, or her role as a judge on America's Got Talent in 2006, Her role on Dancing With the Stars, Her role in the Tyler Perry film, Temptation or her numerous endorsements and performances around the globe.
Whether
YOU can see it or not, Brandy is doing things, and people know who she is and what she has done. Her entire family is iconic.
