It's pretty clear that Aaliyah's family is greedy. They really need to shut the hell up. They can't stop the movie from being made. Plenty of celebrities die, and plenty of biopics are made. They're acting like Aaliyah was Princess Diana. Give us a break and gain some perspective. The television movie will happen. Just be happy that people actually want a movie about Aaliyah to begin with, even after all this time. Aaliyah's family just want to be the ones making the most money from the venture, which is why they are pushing/holding out for a big screen deal, which will NEVER happen, because even though people care about Aaliyah, they don't care about her that much, not enough to pay for a nine dollar movie ticket. Perspective.

Let me tell y'all, I was searching for her music one night but didn't have enough for the full album (AALIYAH) so I only bought 3 songs (Rock The Boat, We Need A Resolution & I Care 4 U) months had gone by and I decided to complete the album but it wasn't on iTunes anymore.
So I did some online research first before I contacted Apple and I found out that someone had put AALIYAH on iTunes and was profiting from it and they didn't have permission from whoever the hell owns the music. Apple did end up giving me back my money but I was pissed because I wanted the entire album

And just the other day I went to go add all of my music to my library on iTunes and We Need A Resolution was missing and I contacted Apple and they said it must of disappeared and they refunded fore that

So don't come at her mom because this is all Mr.BARRY's doing. He wants the movie to go to theaters so he can make even more money then drop her new album. Y'all should really do your research on him and what he had to say about AALIYAHS parents. They have been at odds since her death because the Tea is he had something to do with it.

So if the film doesn't go to theaters her music will never be released? Good luck with that.

Considering that no one wants to work with him because he is shady I doubt he could get a movie made on his terms so the music will come regardless because he is BROKE and needs the money. But he is the only one who can throw a ranch into the lifetime movie because he owns all her music. Her mom couldn't even stop the I care 4 U album let alone a movie she doesn't have that power Barry does and he released it anyway knowing how her mom felt. The BOLD. Aaliyah is not some untouchable brand. Her life can be made into a biopic whether they want it or not. They just want all the money for it which is truly sad. That's why it's a TV movie, so no major money is being thrown around.
They need to get a grip and STOP trying to exploit Aaliyah to the big screen. Let her story be known no matter the medium.

Except Tyler Perry movies have many plot twists and interesting and comedic moments which Aaliyah's life wasn't. Aaliyah's life was pretty controversy free sans R.Kelly and her unique fashions. TLC had way more drama and news headlines that make a interesting movie that could have been on the big screen. Also her life and career was shorter than those I mentioned.
Aaliyah's story is better for TV from a financial and creative standpoint.

Honestly, this whole affair is a mess. Her family might feel guilty along with being at odds with Barry due to her death.
But in all honesty do they really think Aaliyah would want her music to be kept from her fans?.
Yes, she was their daughter but they are selfish when it comes to her legacy.
They could have released a mastered unreleased song or two every anniversary on her death to keep her memory alive and spark interest.

Gerl got caught in the middle of a messy situation that a lot of regular people had no clue about.

This. I mean, some people are really disrespectful without a reason. She wasn't just picked randomly - Zendaya auditioned just like any other actress who tried to get this role, and I think that directors/producers chose her for a reason, it means that she stood out in some way. And I can't at some people saying she isn't right for the role because she doesn't look like Aaliyah. Sch, nobody looks like Aaliyah, and nobody ever will. It's not only about the looks after all - it's also about being able to show the talent that Aaliyah had, her passion. In my opinion, Zendaya is the perfect choice for this role. It's sad that people are struggling to understand that.

It's more than that though. What big film companies would invest in this? What credible film stars would want to star in this? And do you really think they'd have a big enough budget for a good promo schedule?

Please, just stop.
Barry, definitely, has lots of going on with ideas on how to make money now, but he did not had anything to do with her tragic death.
I love Aaliyah with all my heart. I have her autograph, she hugged me and smiled at me the whole time I got to spend with her (yeah, about 2 minutes). She was truly something special. There should be a movie, like a real one. The Lifetime flick will be lame and will not do justice to Aaliyah, as she really was at the top of her game back in 2001.
