I think a movie would be nice but Zendaya was not right person for the role. But if Aaliyah's family is against the movie then I guess it will be cancelled again.

Im kinda indifferent about the whole biopic situation. I love Aaliyah so it would be amazing to see her honored but at the same time if her family is not okay with it; then it shouldn't be done. & even if they're only objecting to the Lifetime movie for monetary purposes I'd rather the money go to her mom and brother than someone else

Why hasn't Aaliyah's family started production to film their OWN movie on Aaliyah's life? They could get donations from the fans, to help "tell her story."Lifetime is also so doing a biopic about Whitney Houston, and Whitney's family is against the movie as well but like stated why are THEY not telling THEIR own story? none of these families are broke, and they have a lot of connections so what's the excuse? if TLC and NWA can produce and get FUNDING for their projects, then why can't the Haughtons and the Houstons?

Her family needs to keep it real with themselves. I love Aaliyah, but the truth is she is not big enough to have a feature film in theaters. It would flop miserably. If Elizabeth Taylor didn't get one in theaters, what makes them think Aaliyah, someone with liitle to no presence in the current generation will get one. Her family is always complaining though. In the 13 years she's been gone, they have done nothing for her legacy. That's why majority of people in this generation no nothing of her except for the accident. They should've kept her legacy going, but instead they've made her just a relic of the past. They should be grateful people even want to even do a film on her cuz as I've stated, she is largely forgotten these days unfortunately. And I don't know why people are dissing tv biopics. There have been some great ones over the years. Gia, Introducing Dorothy Dandridge, The Jacksons, The Five Heartbeats and even the TLC movie wad done well and it helped TLC get some attention in this generation. I'm sure Lifetime will do a good job with Aaliyah's story.

It has nothing to do with her immediate family. Its her Uncle's agenda Diane don't even want pre-recorded music to be released let alone a MOVIE! IT is her uncle who has his own plans. So don't come at her mom because this is all Mr.BARRY's doing. He wants the movie to go to theaters so he can make even more money then drop her new album. Y'all should really do your research on him and what he had to say about AALIYAHS parents. They have been at odds since her death because the Tea is he had something to do with it.

Y'all are acting like she's a forgotten flop. She was big in the R&B field and she is still very known to today's R&B/Hip Hop listeners and Black youth. This will be a Black people movie a la Tyler Perry and would do just as well as a Tyler Perry movie with proper promotion.
