I see you're forgetting to mention the fact that albums sales in general started to decline every year from 2001 onwards whereas most of Janet's albums were released when album sales were at their highest.

Britney's 6th album released in 2008, Circus sold 4 million which would've been around 7-8 million in 2001/2000 (the same or more as All for you) so let's not, and let's not forget that same album also spawned 2 huge hits and a MASSIVE tour.

I think what most people need to realize here is most of this forum is under the age of 18. So of course they would not be familiar with how big Janet really was in the late 80's and discourse of the 90's. They would only be more familiar with Britney.

Also Janet's prime was not during the awakenings of the digital age, so she was not seen and heard of as much as Britney can be googled back to today.

Janet's career though is all around more iconic and consistent. Britney had a big boom and shot down faster than a speeding bullet. Of course shes come back to mediocre success following her breakdown, but that was due to infamousy not just the talent at hand like Janet.

Janet's career holds more esteem, more awards, more recognition, and more acclaim. Britney is just seen as a good pop puppet. No shade.

Britney also has her own thing and her own identity, but is truth Janet was an influence for Britney ... and Is kind of ironic that the influenced girl (Britney) ended surpassing and outselling Janet Jackson's career.

Actually I feel kind of bad for Janet because Britney destroyed her, Britney came out in 1999, and by 2001 Janet jackson was already out of the music industry forever, When I say OUT I mean really OUT at the point of not being able to get a top 10/20 hit anymore.
