Britney only really ruled for 5-6 years and began to decline after her 4th album, while Janet didn't decline until her 6th (Velvet Rope) or 7th (All For You)

I see you're forgetting to mention the fact that albums sales in general started to decline every year from 2001 onwards whereas most of Janet's albums were released when album sales were at their highest.

Britney's 6th album released in 2008, Circus sold 4 million which would've been around 7-8 million in 2001/2000 (the same or more as All for you) so let's not, and let's not forget that same album also spawned 2 huge hits and a MASSIVE tour.

Because they are young and stupid. Britney looks up to Janet and confessed numerous times about how Janet influenced her. You are correct to say Janet is the one Britney modeled her career after rather than Madonna. lol, most of the people on here probably were born after 1995 so they grew up when britney was in her prime. they arent here for janet because they dont know anything past all for you and nipplegate.
janet got her vanguard award in 1990 before some of these folks were even an embryo. they dont know what she did for music. they need to watch the alright, nasty, and rhythm nation videos and really discover janet's music then perhaps they will understand. i love britney too and was in jr. high when she became big but its just some (not all) of her stans that are so annoying in the way they overrate britney and disrespect legends in the process.

Britney is ranked way higher than janet on the all time selling acts in the US with 34M certified albums and Janet with more than 20M ... And then if you look the certifications outside the US you will find britney has gotten at least the triple of janet's...

So its a fact, britney has sold more records than Janet


About touring, i've never seen an official source talking about Janet's grossing figures, just what her fans say... Otherwise Britney officially has one of the most succesfull tours of all time by a female artist, janet is not on the list.

And sometimes Britney's life could turn into a circus or a joke, but she still debuts at #1, get #1 singles, tours WW, wins awards.

And just as janet britney has a legacy, you know you have legacy when the whole new generation admire you... And all of these new genertation of artists praise and admire Biritney spears.

Sometimes, I let it ride that these young and dumb posters on here don't know anything about musical history. Janet competed in every way with her contemporaries. Trust, these young gals would not have lasted in the 80's or 90's. But back then, music was so diverse and everyone enjoyed success. The fact that Janet had only 2 studio albums in the 90's with a greatest hits album and still managed to be the second best selling artist of the decade says a lot. She could have made at least 2 albums between eras, but she wasn't craving the attention that some of her contemporaries needed.. She disappeared from the public eye and came back fresh and rejuvenated.

IMO I think Britney's career is bigger and superior, because it actually is ..... but I can recognize at the same time that Janet is a better performer and released better albums.
