But.They're(Gaga,Katy,Rihanna).Just.Behind ADELE, who else they need to top?
Oh yeah nobody should release singles. They score big hits so what? That's awesome they have great album + single sales. You do know most people buy singles right?

Regardless TD's album sales were still great as well LOUD, TTT will reach 3m WW so no biggie there come on now.
I don't get it why don't you bring singles' success to this? They're part of the era having great album + single sales/success is awesome and Katy & Rihanna have both.

Urban singles sell albums better than pop singles I think, and Nicki hasn't had an urban hit from this album yet.

Not really. A lot of people still buy albums, as evident with Adele and other AC/rap/rock artists.

Look at her last album, look at many major rap artists. Like someone mentioned, J.Cole did similar numbers with no major hit and less promotion.

Lil Wayne pulled 946,000+ 1st week and Drake pulled 631,000 1st week. These are numbers you get when the hood doesn't ban you

But she got to where she is (or is it was?) because of the black/BET audiences so SIT. Singing for Pepsi, gurl you consider that an accomplishment?

Tbh, these sales aren't bad, they're just extremely underwhelming. Everybody was expecting 300k, 400k, even 500k, but we get 200k. I think it had a lot to do with how the general public viewed her, along with the pre-release tactics, sucj as the Grammy's performance and the video for Stupid Hoe. It'll probably sell well in the long run, though:

“Hell no! This album is gonna sell so much more than Pink Friday. Ask me this question two years from today, Clue. With me, I’m never about first week and all that. I like to look at it for the long haul. I’ma travel, I’ma meet my beautiful babies, my Barbz everywhere, and this is my first time I’m gonna get to do a world tour, so the album is gonna do its thang.”

Please are you trying to say albums are selling like hot cakes? that's not true at all, it's nonsense. Single sales trumps album sales by a very wide margin.
Altough It's obviously true rap/country/alternative fans are more dedicated that pop fanbases which are fickle.

You guys are the ones turning the phrase into something bad. She's selling like popstars. She wanted to be a popstar. No one said it was a bad thing. Seeing that 99% of this website stans for popstars, why would we drag ourselves like that?

!!!
This is so true, it all ties into black people being more religious than most. After Nicki's Grammy performance everyone was almost certain she "worshiped the devil" and that kinda mess does. not. fly. with urban audiences. Nicki better rebuke the evil spirit that has engulfed her being!

Wasn't the original point that by alienating her urban base her album sales will be like those of a popstar - that is, not bad, but not particularly impressive relative to non-pop acts due to the disproportionate amount of exposure they receive?
There are only two pop albums in the top 10, so I'm not sure what the point of contention is.
No doubt her singles sales will be better, but the thread is asking about her album sales.

If selling like a pop star means 2M+ then only 3/10 of my faves albums have "sold like a pop star", I'm not dragging myself

She's on-track to shift around 300,000 copies at full RRP. Then it's sale time!
PF:RR will be the most high-profile album on HMV's next 3-for-£10 deal in autumn. The first album sold 95,000 copies in last year's 3-for-£10 deal, so expect PF:RR to be huge.

All you really need to do is compare her numbers to her Young Money label-mates, to put things in perspective.
Drake debuted with over 600,000. Lil Wayne debuted with close to 1 million.
She's had more than double the amount of hits + exposure that they both had when they released. To say 200k is underwhelming, is def an understatement., especially for a Hip Hop album by a star of her magnitude.

It's not even just that. Had this been her debut album, okay, whatever. But that she dropped so much from Pink Friday despite being WAY more famous than ever before is an ominous sign.

SO true.
She's had two Top 10 Pop hits (Turn Me On & Starships), featured on two big Urban hits (Make Me Proud & Dance A$$), a widely-talked about Grammy performance, a Superbowl appearance, high profile promo.etc.
I remember when PF dropped she hadn't even gotten a Top 10 hit yet.
Plus the music is obviously terrible. I mean, if you want to go Pop, at least give us something quality ala 808s & Heartbreaks, not ... that.
