But why is it racist to prefer lighter skin tones (like Rihanna or Beyonce) over darker skin tones(like Kelly Rowland)? This is a preference on skin tone (lighter skin tone/complexion) over skin color (black, white, yellow, brown).

No ones saying prefences arent ok. I can prefer white guys to black guys. I can prefer japanese men to korean men. But saying you're completely unattracted to a race is a form of subconscious racism. And i bet you wouldn't be able to come up with a legitimate reason for your "preference " besides the color of their skin or a stereotype

That's racism as well.

Selective racism is still racism. So if said light skinned person is found attractive and they went out on vacation and got a tan and got darker does that make them unattractive now?

The same thing can be said for height, body size, facial structure etc. There is no real good reason to prefer an oval face to an round face, a tall person to a short person etc. But there doesn't seem to be any big issue discriminating on those factors?

In this scenario, yes the person who prefers a lighter skin tone would find the tanned person unattractive. It would be similar to a person who prefers skinny people finding that after the person gained weight, they were no longer attractive.

Because they were already in the "beauty" sector of their "preferred" race and now they are in the unattractive sector because they got a little darker and retained the same exact other features. It's definitely shallow and discriminatory. But when the same issue is applied to someone who gained weight or who underwent plastic surgery suddenly people don't seem to have an issue?

people are stupid. im only attracted to a certain type of guys, but i am open to all. sure attraction is not controlled, but understand that your idea of beauty has been skewed by institutionalized racism. i am a hispanic twink and i am brave enough to admit that my culture favours fair skinned men, so thats what ive been taught to go after. this doesnt mean that i block darker skinned guys, simply that i prefer light skin men

So then people should have an issue with a preference that excludes any group of people based on factors they can't control then right? So a guy that goes exclusively after taller guys (and thus is discriminating against shorter guys) would be an issue right?

By the way, I just want to point out that I agree with the OP. I just find it illogical that it's okay to discriminate on certain factors that people CANNOT CONTROL (like height, face shape etc.) but not others.
