OOTB does not have her best lyrics. I swear people see that album through rose-tinted glasses There are some great lyrics (there are on all of her albums) but there are some awful ones/songs too. OOTB (song), Mannequin, Ur So Gay have some of the cringiest lyrics of her career.
TD is probably her most consistent lyrically but OOTB/Prism have her peaks
EDIAH was underwhelming and it's the obvious reason why Luke has to go. Plus Taylor ended her era, she's probably gonna start new record very soon and she'll be the priority so good luck booking Max Martin, lazy bitch. She had time for 100 private shows and being Mayers punching bag but none for studio sessions. Soon everyone will be begging for a non-Adele bop and whoever delivers will win big yet she has nothing to serve.

ehh OOTB definitely has lyrics that feel her most personal, TD was where she became relatable to EVERYONE and PRISM was an odd mix of that.
There's no reason. Her #1 on BB200 is secured (except If she competes Taylor by the week she will be releasing ) and she can get this #1 without streaming. Will she be able to sell 200k-250k pure copies in the first week If KP4 is on Spotify by the time It gets released?
Sure she can. She did it with PRISM. Yea, the album market has declined since then, but that only more of a reason to stay with Spotify. Katy constantly is saying people are consuming music differently. Why would she prioritize slightly more album sales over millions of people consuming her music through Spotify, so that we have an edge in stan wars?
She isn't petty enough to care about the few album sales she would lose when she makes so much money from non-album sources.
Throwing up @ the OOTB praise and PRISM hate in here.
OOTB (aside from a few singles) is terrible and the critics agree. TD sounds dated as hell.
PRISM was a step in the right direction. She needs to record more songs that are sonically like Ghost and Double Rainbow, along with sexy bops with an edge like Dark Horse.
I think if This Moment and It Takes Two were removed, and the album sequenced differently, it would be received better. The way it is now being so half and half doesn't do it any favors.
Is Mercury in retrograde?
Or is that the excuse that I've always made?
'Cause I wanna blame you,
But I can only blame myself
Yeah, it's easy to throw you under the bus
Or call you crazy, while filling my cup
I say these things to hurt you
But I only hurt myself
Oh, I can only take responsibility for me
Incredible mix of great lyrics mixed with a few cliché's thrown in
this lyric alone justifies all the cliches of the song tbh

No, OOTB definitely has her best. She's not a amazing (great even) lyricist, but OOTB was her at her best/most interesting or unique. TD is generic but good, and most of the lyrics on Prism are really bad

One of her best song. Her with her singer-songwriter vibe (lyrics and vocals) with guitar and real instruments is her at her best. She is made for acoustic pop rock

I agree. ITT is in the top 4 tracks probably. It's quite good. Se sounds good and it's well written. I love someone above dragging it. How can you praise SPIRM overall while dragging ITT? Lmfao
Y'all are getting me so nervous abkut KP4 please, Katy, don't be lazy, and don't release another crap record like Prism. I feel like she HAS to realize she needs to release something mature and quality at this stage in her career, but it's Katy and she probably doesn't realize that. Thank god she won't be working with dr Luke much--preferably not at all. I hope half of the album is with mainstream producers and the other half is lesser known ones. What if she worked with Paul epworth? I would die
She needs someone who won't make her sound so manufactured like all the producers she works with currently. Ryan Tedder could do that. Listen to his stuff with Adele and Gavin DeGraw and a bunch of others. Still pop, but their raw voices still shine through

i agree. katy's problem isn't the production. i think even her worst producer Dr Luke provides at worst "good" productsion, even if they're generic. other than that, the back half of Prism has great production (Ghost, LM, TM, DR to be exact) with **** lyrics. her lyrics are so, so bad. THAT'S what she needs to work on. hate to say it, but take a note out of taylor's book: something more personal, direct, specific, less cliched/cartoony/stupid metaphors. just mature, honest, genuine, and emotional music, and that would be great. more TOY, Lost, ISB, TD, CTD (better production), TOTGA, WA, Spiritual, ITT, CYB. she could make a great pop album if she just put in the effort. but that's a HUGE if.

what? his production doesn't get worse album-to-album. if anything, blame katy and her ****** lyrics on TM
benny as a producer is clearly not the problem. he's serving good productions or at the very least good singles

This. Literally nothing on FLOPRISM is better than these lyrics. She used to be so quirky and fun, and now she's...that embarrassing grandmother trying to be cool.
Please, Katy, give it your all with the lyrics for KP4. That's why she's dragged. Forget vocals and pop music for a sec, she's dragged because her lyrics are so horrific. If she can't write better on her own, then hopefully the co writers and producers will be critical on her. Her career will take a huge hit if she releases another **** album. She needs to take time to perfect the songs, like she did with CYB. What, six months she said? And she turned out with arguably her most lyrically and musically mature, complex song. I know she CAN make something great, there are 3-4 tracks per album that are truly wonderful. She just needs to really commit

Spotify is too important if you want to get high sales in countries where iTunes is not popular anymore like mine. That's why Dark Horse outsold the whole 1989 era here
