I thought this too, but considering "Single Ladies" has 9, Lady Gaga has 9 and "Circus" and "7 Things" both scored Editing nods, clearly it's not. (oh...for those who are not quite paying attention, the tech awards happen during the preshow. So even if Ciara herking and jerking like a be-headed chicken won for choreography (and in this shitstain of a category it's entirely possible) she's (a) not be receiving it as SHE DID NOT MAKE UP THE CHOREOGRAPHY. IT GOES TO THE CHOREOGRAPHER. and (b) she would not be accepting it on the show. They'd announce during the preshow and maybe catch her later on for comment. Yeesh people).
Will blog about it later but I cannot believe how dumbstruck I am about how ****** these nominees are sans Breakthrough Video and Video That Should Have Won One Already. Sigh, I am too damn old for the VMAs methinks.

So did MTV really ban Black Eyed Peas (and if so, why?) or is it just a coincidence that the biggest group of the year got no nominations.

OMG you will not bring up that sad day in Black History.... I cried for weeks... India was robbed because she wasn't mainstream enough... Alicia could never ever in her life write a song as real and pure as "Ready For Love".

LMAO! The video of the year nominees were so predictable. I posted this on June 21st.

I think that Britney, Beyonce, Lady GaGa, Eminem, and Rihanna will be the nominees for video of the year.

Wrong about Rihanna, and Kanye was unexpected. The video wasn't that good.
WTF? How the hell is Britney nominated for video of the year, but not for female video?
Wisin & Yandel have got to be the most unexpected nominees EVER. I swear if they win!

The Circus choreography in the video was actually good.
I agree the video shouldn't win, but the moves in the video were definitely great choreography..

Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Britney all deserve the noninations..
Let's see if 2009 is a Part II of Britney owning the awards show..Maybe she could win all categories, Who knows what will happen.

I wholeheartedly agree with most of what you said, but especially on the last paragraph. The only passable list of nominees aside from the two categories you mentioned, in my opinion, was Best Female Video, and SEVERAL artists (not counting the Black Eyed Peas since their videos didn't air on any MTV channel so they're ineligible) got royally screwed. Now let's just hope that MTV doesn't pull of the old excuse of "Yeah, we kind of booked like 20 artists to perform in this 2-hour show so we're going to present the Breakthrough Video and Best Video (That Should Have Won a Moonman) awards with the tech awards early during the pre-show"... Or, even worse, that they announce them via a press release like they did last year...

Err, ok. I'm not gonna start a 'war', but as far as I love India, Alicia is just as or even MORE talented than her, so just shut up.
P.S.: Btw, 'Black History'? Last time I said something similar here many black members were jumping on me like crazy calling me racist and all.

Video of the Year:
Beyoncé - Single Ladies
Eminem - We Made You
Lady Gaga - Poker Face
Britney Spears - Womanizer
Kanye West - Love Lockdown
 Well-chosen nominees, IMO.
Single Ladies should win.
