It really isn't. It's been like, four days since the movie came out. Let's see if anyone remembers Gone Girl in three years before we declare scenes to be "the most iconic since Psycho".
We lose a lot of how ****ed up Nick is because David Fincher is a closet misogynist (the new Hitchcock for real wooo) and chose to accentuate Amy's flaws while leaving Nick as a sympathetic "nice guy". That's the inherent issue with Gone Girl, and it's sooooo amazing but I can't get over that.
I did like how Fincher's directing reflected America pressuring women (or people generally) into specific roles. I thought that was essentially the contrast to accentuating Amy's flaws.
Of course it didn't really make up that much for choosing to side more with Nick but I do feel that Fincher at least tried to play a little against that with some of his directing choices.
We all know Kya learned from the best and is, by default, superior than the other bitches, but we needed that plot progress so they won.
So true. I have seen many Mako fans saying Mako is better than Kya because he was able to beat Ming Gua while Kya couldn't. I told them his victory was plot induced and that he got his ass handled pretty bad by Ming Gua in that desert episode.
Does it even work in the modern age? I'm not opposed to it but we'll see.
Don't see why it wouldn't. Twin Peaks essentially exists in its own universe. Even during the show's original run the town itself was sort of removed from modern America

I definitely think people who haven't read the book would be inherently more suspicious of/loathing towards Nick since you don't know the whole premise in the first place.
