Desi's death is the best thing I've seen at the movies in years. But the more I think about it the more I prefer the book. There's just too much that Fincher de-emphasized or omitted.

The movie captured the feel well, and the death scene is probably the most iconic since Psycho, but yes you lose a LOT of how truly ****ed up Nick and Amy, especially Nick, are in the movie.

Yeah, you know you're over when you can't even find a distributor for your movie. The way her career has declined over this past year is really scary. People are also tired of her leeching off of Angelina and are over pitying her. Clearly she is the one with the issue since she can't find one person on Earth to put a ring on it.

The twist truly felt so real to me. I'm glad I didn't read the book ahead of time, because my reaction to discovering that Amy had set it all up was truly one of shock and horror - even if it was obvious in retrospect. It pissed me off that the bitch made me believe that Nick somehow, whether directly or indirectly, killed her. Manipulative but I love it. Everything post her reveal was just so creepy and you really view the first half differently now that you do know I have the book now and I will begin reading it tonight. What is the other book by the same author that everyone is recommending to me?

It really isn't. It's been like, four days since the movie came out. Let's see if anyone remembers Gone Girl in three years before we declare scenes to be "the most iconic since Psycho".

We lose a lot of how ****ed up Nick is because David Fincher is a closet misogynist (the new Hitchcock for real wooo) and chose to accentuate Amy's flaws while leaving Nick as a sympathetic "nice guy". That's the inherent issue with Gone Girl, and it's sooooo amazing but I can't get over that.
