I see a running theme in this thread, and these so called bloggers/experts. It's jealousy that X isn't African American yet she's the voice of our generation, and trumps the other gals. Even though of course Christina Aguilera's a way better singer than Mary J Blige, her, and X hold the same singing technique. There's a reason why ya'll here would rather go after X than MJB since ya'll can't have her.
Projecting and projecting most people I know come after MJB's technique and furthermore your getting off topic. No one cites MJB as the voice of the 90's, there is no jealousy of objective fact. Leave MJB out of this

P.S. DEAD@ y'all being self "educated" in music.
Oh yes it does if after all this time you can't sing on key or struggle to hit certain notes then how can you be the voice of a generation or a model for other singers in your wake to follow. Technique is everything because it show how educated you are on your so called passion, and know how to use your instrument A.K.A. your voice
P.S.: Dead @ you denying that some posters in here are actually educated in school on these type of topics. And these vocal experts are all weighing in, not all of them can be wrong or haters. Still make excuses for xtina
Until Christina isn't dependent on screaming B4's, can stay on key and in tune on tenor high B's and fogging away into air on a3's and does so without over singing, she is and will always be a horrible vocalist. Deal. Whether sounding like **** is her style or not is a completely different issue altogether.
The Voice of this Generation that can barely stay in-tune? Hahahahahahah!

Just when you think the delusion can't be taken any further...

Maybe this isn't about race... but maybe it's because nobody is trying to convince the world that Mary J Blige is the voice of her generation
X-Tina is not "way better" than MJB and she has never trumped anyone.
Well she sings live...sometimes. Part of the excitement of being at a Britney concert is catching when she finally sings a song live; it's like a treat.
I agree. The Songbird Supreme is Forever Queen and Empress. The voice of ALL generations. The most beautiful tone and 5 octaves of perfection.

There's a reason why Celine says C/X's a greater singer than herself, Whitney says C's up there with herself in singing her classics, and Mariah to this day holds jealous rage towards Aguilera.
All those people can't be wrong. Like the saying goes - those who can't do, and make it, teach. Those bloggers, people with only degrees, and the self educated will only stay a whisper to the loud general public's fact, that's CMA's 1 of the greatest vocalists to have ever lived.

BUT boo one list out of the seas of thousands who thinks otherwise. Yeah okay you can keep making excuses at the end of the day who cares if they didn't make, that doesn't mean what they said lacks truth. Plus many of these so called teachers never wanted to be in xtina's position in the first place stop overgeneralizing. Plus no one takes RS seriously
Anyways eligibles for best singers/vocalists:
MC
Whitney
Beyonce
Dionne Warwick
Barbara Streisand
Aretha
etc......
