And since we're talking impact, Amy. She has influenced a good number of young artists only with 2 albums on her discography. Changed the UK music scene. Basically, Amy did a lot without making headlines for anything unrelated to music other than her crazy life. She's the last influential artist who perfectly embodied the word 'RockStar'. Gaga is way bigger than Amy tho, and more famous, but her impact is only at the Pop music realm so far. It's not that hard to ignore Gaga tbh.

If you still want to try by saying that the bigger act is the more influential and having a bigger impact, then Woody Guthrie would like to talk to you.

Back to the argument, who are some new artists that were clearly and directly influenced and inspired by Gaga? I can't think of any big ones, and I can think of very many who were obviously impacted by Amy.

I love Amy but the bulk of her impact is regional (UK). I think Amy had great potential to be a legend had her life not been so consumed by her addiction which confined her to be strictly being tabloid fodder even up until her passing. Her posthumous album barely cracked the Top 5 in the US despite having the greatest promotion any artist could ever receive; death.

I know Nicki was already around but it still shows impact in the same way that Gaga had to completely discard her old pre fame image to make it in the industry because of being compared to Amy.
