To be honest, i think when it comes to Rihanna everyone likes to overreact a little. No shes not the most talented girl in the business, yes she's an inconsistent performer but she does have moments where she shines and if she was untalented then she would not still be here after 7 years in the game. How many people with no talent could have done what she has done in the past 7 years, just because she doesn't have tons of input into her material does not mean she has no talent at all and when she does write and takes more charge in her work it shows very well e.g. Rated R. For Rihanna to pretty much come from nothing and improve the way she has is pretty good in my opinion but each to their own i guess

She got trashed by every single critic/newspaper when she toured here. The LOUD tour + Rock In Rio were a MESS!

I don't care if she has talent or not. She should be able to at least entertain the crowd, that's her main job

I still haven't found what is so unique about her "talent." She has an accent and hit songs. That's what she will be remember for.

Her fans will defend her, but I don't see what's wrong with just accepting her lack of abilities. If you love her, then you do. Don't justify something that isn't there.

she has a fairly mediocre voice and she really doesnt know how to manage it..so basically we have a below average performer who fakes her singing..However her presence isgood , a B+... There are times here and then , when she delivers a few good notes..but that's that..

I don't she is the best or even 2nd or 3rd bet at anything, BUT I had a great time at both of her concerts, and her music gets me pumped. She is not legend worthy, IMO. Just a temporary sensation.

How many times do we need to say this? Rihanna is talented. She has a good voice, she can dance when she puts effort into it. But many of her peers are stronger vocally and dance wise. Rihanna has star quality, she just hasnt cared enough to become an excellent performer.

This is getting utterly ridiculous and the rehashes of this argument always end the exact same way. The fact of the matter without any room for deliberation is that Rihanna IS talented. She can sing. She has potential in dance. She may not be the most consistent performer around but that doesn't mean she is incapable of displaying good vocals or putting on a damn-good show - and for someone who has seen her in concert on every tour she's done, I think I'm in a position to judge her skills. Also, this "minimal input in her career" attempt needs to stop. She's co-written songs on 3 of her 6 albums - and while that is only 1/2, it's a 1/2 that must be recognized. It isn't fair to say she's never had creative involvement when she HAS written songs. Also, she is 100% in charge of the creative and art direction, vision, and production behind her albums and tours - and whether people like to accept it or not - that demonstrates both talent and involvement.

But of course, some people who dislike her will simply not admit that she has talent, but it honestly doesn't matter to me. They only make themselves look like fools considering the above.

Something temporary doesn't last 7 years especially in something so fickle ass the entertainment industry.

I don't consider Rihanna to be the most talented girls out of the bunch and to me that's completely redundant as long as her music continues to entertain me. I will say that there aren't many female singers out there who can adapt to so many genres of music and be successful at it.

You have to be completely blind or just stubborn to say the chick hasn't improved drastically since her debut. She may not be up to the standards of hanging herself on stage or on the level of Beyonce, but she entertains. That's exactly what's wrong though. People are so busy comparing the bitch to her contemporaries that they don't just take her for what she is as an individual. I don't expect her to to be GaGa, Beyonce, Whitney, Mariah, Madonna, or Janet. Rihanna is Rihanna, minimally talented or not, the bitch makes it work for her or she wouldn't be one of the most successful artists in recent music history.
