Honestly, Kesha and Jason Derulo are on the same level
Kesha has six Top 20 hits
Jason has five Top 20 hits
Both get radio airplay, but both aren't really A-List artists. Nothings wrong with that to be honest. They just both make generic music with the more generic producers in my opinion.
I don't know. But I stopped stanning for him when he released Don't Wanna Go Home because I hated that song so much. Hist first album is so good though.
Whoever said he doesn't have the it factor pretty much nailed it....I'm not going to say it's because his music is generic since most of the songs that chart are generic...I'm not going to say its because he can't sing live, since some artists prove that great vocals don't mean anything...most people don't know who he is as an artist and don't connect to him...he may have a few top 10 hits but he isn't interesting enough to make people want to go buy his albums
I think it's time for the ''guys'' era. We have been taking so much from the girls since Madonna I can't quite remember when was it that people stanned for a male pop star. It's not that I'm not enjoying Gaga and the others and their dominance, because it is quite a show, but when is it that men are going to do that? I could see it happening if Justin Bieber had rivals (not that I'm saying he's a slayer, just that he's alone in the game).
He has a couple of decent songs and is not that bad (IT Girl, In My Head) but he is so generic and more importantly is faceless, I dont know anything about him at all and has little promo. Plus he is very similar to Chris Brown who is much better than him.

Make that 6 top10s (never missed it like he has) including 2 no1s
Plus Ke$ha has better music and is more memorable
Jason has potential but he needs a complete image overhaul. He's essentially a sanitized version of Chris Brown and Usher without the edge or sex appeal. He isn't an unattractive performer but his music is too safe, his style is too flamboyant, and he doesn't cross over to both Pop and Urban audiences. His second album was actually decent despite the generic-ness but he really needs to step his game up, like for real.
