Of Course he needs to earn the respect.. but the fact that every is just judging him off of that night is just Mind-boggling there are/were PLENTY of artist who are legendary (not saying Chris is of that status) who was NEVER respected as a Person... but what they brought to the table.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Hypocritical people don't care about what the fact is, they just see things as what they want to see so they can come judge others and show how "justicial" they are

Also, let's not forget Michael Jackson was witch-hunted to his deathbed, despite of all the accolades he amassed throughout his career. He was revered for his artistry, but was tabloid fodder for most of his late career.

Now, let's also take into account that Michael Jackson was acquitted, whereas Chris Brown plead guilty. It wasn't until Michael's death (unfortunately), that Michael was finally able to get rid of the child molestation stigma that plagued his career.

You're missing the point. Even before the molestation allegations, Michael Jackson was still not that respected as a person. He was considered an absolute weirdo and side eyed immensely by the general public for the way he acted, the plastic surgery, etc yet he was still highly respected for his talent. And even after, regardless of the stigma, even while he was still alive he was sill highly respected.

Amy Winehouse was never respected as a person, she was considered a crack head mess generally but she was still respected as a great talent and a great voice.

Sean Penn has been side-eyed personally since 1985 but is still seen and given props as being one of the most gifted actors.

I could seriously go on and on and on and list all of the people that may not be the most Upstanding Citizens in the eyes of the general public yet are still undeniably respected for what they do. You do not have to be respected as a person to be respected as an artist. I'm not sure where you got that idea from but that's absolutely absurd.

Exactly, I don't understand it. Nobody stans for a person because of their personal life. Whatever Chris does in his personal is his business. But I will not sit here & say he shouldn't be respected because of a mistake that happened damn near 3 years ago. That boy has suffered enough. they acting like he Molested a child or murdered the girl. Don't judge Chris as a person.. but judge by his musical talents.

!!! I mean I could understand if Chris was out here running for Ms. America or something but like He is recording music. Nobody is saying he should be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize nor do I think that's what he's going for anyway. So like...who really cares how you feel about him as a person? He doesn't even know you

His personality.... His personality.... His personality...

All of you hate his "personality", call him and tell him! Can't do it? Then you probably don't know him well enought to know his "personality" anyway.
Chris did some things he shouldn't have that I'm not fond of. The fact that he's trying to fix it speaks volumes to me. He's an artist first and foremost so i respect him for BEING SUCH!

At the end of the day, it's just a bunch of people behind avis who are just hateful. In the real world, he's earning back his respect slowly but surely. That's all that matters. Yes he deserves it, just for the fact he's WORKING HARD to EARN it!

Half of the people in here speaking about twitter rants should not even be talking. He doesn't even tweet on a regular anymore. The ****?

This I can't at these people thinking they do not sin. Clearly Chris is sorry for what he has done, we can see it through his actions. He's trying to forget everything and when I mean everything, even Rihanna. We do not see him talking about anything involving them. He's now on a career of his own and everybody should be given a second chance. These people

I never said you have to be respected as a person to be respected as an artist.... In fact I said respect was multidimensional, how many times do I need to spell it out for you.
I said Chris being respected as an artist can never compensate for the respect Chris ( doesn't ) get as a human being. Its absurd to want the public to only focus on Chris, the performer.

My posts were a response to this mindset:

Why should Chris be exempt from the examination of his character simply because he is talented?

 the hell?
The question is "Does Chris Brown deserve more respect?". Period.
Personality, artistry, you name it, people will answer what they want.

As a performer, yes, he's a great dancer and a good singer.
Overall, no, he doesn't deserve respect just for trying to get it back. He obviously will try to get it back, he's a public figure.
Wether you like it or not, people just won't forget the Rihanna 'incident', and rightfully so.
They don't have to just because 'he's trying'.

Do you guys ever stop being selfless? I'm not sticking up for his bad actions but he has done more good things than bad and they get overlooked by you people. I'm sure he's respected as a person in real life, hence him being allowed to come back to shows he was banned from. Chris is making progress and as long as the person and the family he caused problems with are over it, then I'm over it as well. In reality, that is all that matters. He has his friends, a life and his fans.
