I think this is absolute ********. Michael Jackson is one of, if not the most respected artists of all time. He was NEVER that respected as a person, especially not after the molestation thing but the respect people had for his ARTISTRY and his TALENT pretty much overrides that because his personal issues are not what really mattered. Same goes for R.Kelly everyone thinks he's a pervert but he's still considered the King of R&B and one of the most respected R&B artists ever. There is nothing ludicrous about it.

But the thing is you nor anyone else on ATRL knows Chris the person Ya'll are just going by The Rihanna incident. I don't understand how ya'll can critique a person that you don't know personally

Of Course he needs to earn the respect.. but the fact that every is just judging him off of that night is just Mind-boggling there are/were PLENTY of artist who are legendary (not saying Chris is of that status) who was NEVER respected as a Person... but was respect for what they brought to the table.

Also, let's not forget Michael Jackson was witch-hunted to his deathbed, despite of all the accolades he amassed throughout his career. He was revered for his artistry, but was tabloid fodder for most of his late career.

Now, let's also take into account that Michael Jackson was acquitted, whereas Chris Brown plead guilty. It wasn't until Michael's death (unfortunately), that Michael was finally able to get rid of the child molestation stigma that plagued his career.

So yes Michael Jackson's personal life did very much matter.
