Madonna and Britney can't even be compared. Like A Prayer was released 6 years after her debut and shows more growth and change than Britney has shown in 13. Slave, Gimme, Toxic...those songs may be good but they're still mindless fun pop songs that still play (with very slight variations) on the sex kitten image of BOMT.
Britney has had 13 years of success b/c she started so young and was able to get away with not changing too much, but if she'd started at 25 like Madonna things would have been different.
Britney is Nobody Madonna. She could never. Madonna has Quality music even she doesnt have a great voice. Britney could never !!!
Christina is more of an artist and I see her having more room to grow and develop once she gets herself together and moves on from reality TV.
I don't see Britney growing as an artist, I had hope when ITZ came out but she has regressed rather than progressed in my opinion, I think she will stay around because there will always be a market for mindless club music but I don't think she will ever produce a 'Thriller' or a musically diverese album. People that say Blackout was a masterpiece, that is fine but it is still mindless, ****ty, club music and that kind of music will more than likely not stand the test of time.
But Britney has shown significant growth as an artist through out her career, she grew as a better dancer, singer, song writer, etc. She has also contributed more to her career than people realize or give her credit for because they insist on basing their "opinions" off their misconceptions.
It is what it is.
Britney will do what she wants and none of us know what the future holds for her or Christina.
Hell, I forgot we were even talking Britney and Christina.
I mean if Britney can punch me with nice vocals and a ballad to shift the mood at the end of her fast paced, dance heavy albums then why can't she give me all of that for one entire album?
Why would Britney Spears record an album of ballads? That's not the artist she is or wants to be. It's not only about what "critics" wants, it's what Britney wants and enjoys. Yes, Britney Spears can sing ballads beautifully and soulfully, but creating some slowed-down, ballad-driven, dark and emotion-heavy album is not the kind of artist Britney Spears is. That's like asking Adele to make an album of "Party Rock Anthems" JUST because she can, but is that the artist Adele is? No. And is that the type of music Adele wants to be making? Most likely not. Not because it's "inferior," but because that's just not what she's interesting in creating. And the same applies to Spears.
I don't think Xtina will ever take over Britney, but I hope she continues to release music she has an amazing voice and whether she's succesful or not I'll keep getting her albums.
I think Christina's main problem is her lack of persistence and determination. Vocally she is there and on point, but in all other areas I don't think she's hungry enough (no pun intended). Her peers seem to come harder.
First it was Britney (You can argue her drive now but in her early years she punched you with music, videos, and ridiculous performances. She was not letting anyone come for her. She knew her voice and what worked and didn't work for it, unlike Xtina)
Then Pink
Then Beyoncé
Then Gaga
There will probably be others too.
I also think she tried to do too much at an early age. Her genre hopping is cute but trying to show the people SO much will only turn them off, especially when she is very talented. You'd expect constant genre switching from gerls with little talent who are desperate to stay relevant. Christina possesses all the necessary components for a long successful career, but she carries herself as such a basic bitch. Ugh.
Let's get into why you're so bothered though. I know you're not sitting up here trying to discredit Michael, let's not bruh. And when one has been co-signed by Michael & Madonna, what more does one need? M.J. and Madonna are considered to be the King and Queen of pop with Britney being the Princess. Together, they define pop culture and pop music.
You're straining yourself too hard to try and discredit her. I'm laughing all the way.
I'm not discrediting none of them. I Adore Madonna but i'm not blind. I Know she's not the greatest thing come to earth. I'm not a Micheal fan, i dont care for his music.

What??? since when? now I see why everyone thinks we are delusional. Britney has lost most of her vocal talent years ago so lets not get carried away now. And Britney's dancing will never be the same for the simple fact that she does not put the effort in most of the time. She can still deliver when she bring her A game though.

I think Christina is determined, but her results just don't come out as A's. :-/ In interviews, you can tell she wants to be this respected artist and it comes off as pretentious. The determination is definitely there.
Because then fans and critics will accuse her of trying to be something that she's not. They'll compare previous albums and harp on the focus on ballads and blah blah blah. Britney fans are just as fickle as the critics and haters sometimes.

But gerls Britney is 10+ years in. Her going for a total change won't set off alarms for people to call her fake or contrived. She's got a lot to talk about. Sure she can go deeper into the type of music she's already been doing, but if you want to talk about "maturing" then you obviously have to drop the partying/dancing/sexing at some point. And if not drop it then don't make it the theme for your album. Since Blackout Britney has regressed musically. What is her next era going to be like?
