Well, this isn't meant to sound shady, but I guess since Rihanna does make her own music that it is easier for her to get bored of it. This could be true. However, I think the case is more along the lines of taking advantage of what is current today. From a marketing stand point, Def Jam is pretty smart here. In this digital era, it is so much easier for Rihanna to rack up scores of top 10 hits based off trendy songs. Imagine if she released new material all the time...well you don't have to.
And if Rihanna is making music that she doesn't like, then I certainly hope she is not the future of pop. Pop needs to move away from this low brow perspective, and Rihanna is not helping. What makes you think she isn't going to get bored of this album? If anything, Rihanna getting bored of her own music is indication to the public response. It only proves that Rihanna is as good as her latest single, which is why she keeps releasing new material.
All she did was change her hair style this era.
To me, reinvention is about a new outlook and new perspective based on a new inspiration. Good Girl Gone Bad may be Rihanna's only true re-invention.
Only Girl and We Found Love might as well be from the same era. Is it homage to OG, maybe? That wouldn't be bad if that were true, but in this case it only proves that Rihanna is just releasing music to stay well known. If the lead single from WFL had show cased growth, then I'd see real reinvention.
She may have liked Rated R over Loud, but she sure isn't taking risks like she did with RR. But who knows. There is still time.
You bring up some good points. I'll break this down through quotes.

The thing is that Rihanna's songs aren't necessarily trendy/generic. She has a few, but heaps of people label her as a generic artist, when majority of her music is nowhere near what you would hear on charts today. "Man Down" and "Californa King Bed" are prime examples of this, I can't think of any Reggae or Country/Soft rock songs in Top 40 radio at the moment. "What's My Name?" is deemed "generic", but it was on Loud before all the other artists started releasing their own versions of the song. Same for "Only Girl (In the World)".

Sorry, I don't know what "low brow" means.
I don't think Rihanna will get bored of this album because it looks like she has her control back. She loved the Rated R era because everything was up to her. Not her label, her. If my theory that Rihanna is the one who rush-released WFL is correct, then I don't think that her label is dictating everything that happens with this new era, and now Rihanna will enjoy it more.
I still stand by my theory of Rihanna releasing new material due to new "dominance" of her label/herself for the new eras. As soon as the "leader" changes, a new album/era is created. I don't think there is anything wrong with that, as it only happened with Loud and Talk That Talk. Something tells me that Rihanna will stay in control for the rest of her career, and therefore breaks and taking her time will arise. Well, I hope.

They all look really different. Re-invention doesn't have to be specifically music. That is a major part (and we've only seen 1 song from TTT so far) but a major part of re-invention is image.

Well, there is a difference between Euro-Pop and House music. I said that before.
And once again I believe Rihanna is releasing new music because she feels like it. Have you noticed how basically everything Rihanna has done this era caters more to her UK audience than her US audience? House music is European. She was on UK Vogue. She collaborated with Calvin Harris, aka a person who is big over in Europe/UK. She is on tour in the UK at the time of the album release. If she was really worried about staying relevant, why would she "shift" to a different continent?
On music forums full of Gaga fans.Katy ain't getting that reputation. You're so blinded by hate that you can't even think rationally.People love Katy.By people I think on general public and not pressed bitter internet trolls.
THEY ARE THE FUTURE OF POP!!!And Katy haters,Katy is big worldwide, has more money than most of your faves, bigger impact, bigger tour and she has everything what it takes to be The Queen of Pop!!
Katy and Rihanna are the most successful millionaires in the world and they will be the masters of Pop perfection. Everyone else will fade out and they will reign. They will rule the world. They will be the first two presidents to be side by side and tell the world that they must listen to their music or taxes will go up at an alarming rate so they can get richer and richer and take over the nations.
(is this how you stan?? I'm trying....I hope it's a good attempt).

I don't consider "generic" and "trendy" to be the same. Would I call Rihanna generic? In some instances, but mostly she is just trendy. By that, I mean Rihanna's music is molded just like the current hits of today in a fashionable way that appeals greatly to top 40 radio. I will applaud her for Rated R not being necessarily trendy (though still commercial in many ways).

Guess we'll find out! By the looks of it, I wouldn't be surprised if Rihanna releases a new album next year. What separates We Found Love from anything on Loud? Though to be fair, can't really judge one song. I just think Talk That Talk will be pretty similar to what we've already heard from Rihanna - probably just more or less of her previous versions - in which she will get bored of it...if boredom is the determining factor for when Rihanna makes new music (which appears to be every 8 months).
I'm really confused too. Didn't a Rihanna fan stan that Rihanna got tired of having to be "emo chick" with Rated R, and wanted to make something happier with Loud? So she got happy, then got bored of it?

Of course they all look different, no one should dispute that. But these album covers show case the most. Rihanna just changes her hair color. Not necessarily the substance (except Rated R). I'll use Janet Jackson, who had a new hairdo every album, as an example. Her first album was about self-empowerment, then she moved onto social injustices/racism, then sexuality, then depression/abuse/sexuality, and then her next albums all sounded the same. I feel like Rihanna is in the latter portion right now, where she is just making the same concept over and over - but just changing one small aspects in hopes the world will think it is different. I can sell the same product door to door, but would it be different just because I wear a different suit each time?

Hardly, but you are right - they aren't carbon copy. Nonetheless, Only Girl and We Found Love really aren't world's a part. I mean, I Kissed a Girl to California Girl - two different songs. Bad Romance to Born This Way - two different songs.
There's nothing wrong with the songs being the same. I stanned hard for Bad Romance, which is the twin to Poker Face. While BR did show growth (through the video and musical structure), still the same as Poker Face practically. But the reinvention was hardly ignored - as the concepts and visuals of both eras are pretty different.
WFL and OG are one in the same in every which way. Play WFL while watching OG...or vice versa...it wouldn't really matter.

Rihanna is aiming to her UK fans because that is the smartest thing the label could do. She's so big in the UK, and House/Euro music is far more popular than anything right now. If traditional polka music was in flavor, Rihanna would be tending to those fans too. There is nothing wrong with any of this. Rihanna is just doing her job by the end of the day.

You Know Born This Way is out only 5 months, right?? She will get there eventually and sell more than Loud. She still has the Born This Way package, black friday and Christmas time.
You see, the thing you don`t understand is that the Amazon deal only helped the album to sell faster, without it the album would be at the same number but selling more per week instead of doing more in the beginning. I said before, Rihanna stans are jealous because even if TTT were to be sold by 1 cent she would still not debut @ 1 and would sell less than 250k..
What`s the point of making 10 O2 concerts if you can`t sell your concerts in the rest of the world? Last i checked she couldn`t sell concerts in Latin and North America. There`s a reason for that: She is not a good performer and people are not willing to see her live. How can you be claimed queen of pop if people don`t want to see you live? The queen of pop has to have at least 97% of attendance.
Just so you know GaGa had 6O2 concerts at the Monster Ball. I`m sure if she kept on booking them she would shatter RiRi`s record, as usual.
she is on her 5th single right??? except born this way all of ha singles FLOPPED and u cant deny it!! let talk about youtube....rihanna masacred ha on that categroy as well....... and let not bring facebook into this we all know who is the queen there...ssh........
and im not going to argue with u about the LOUD tour.... since i havent seen the receipts of the european leg and the oceanian and asian leg....
the north american leg was more than okay..... her canadian leg was SOLD OUT like twice or more....and in the US she sold out more than 90% of the dates.
