I'm simply answering based on the scenario presented earlier. If he wants to buy a prostitute bc he can't get laid anywhere else, who are you to say he can't?
And I'm not sure where brothel's came from, but check Nevada where there are legal brothels up and running.
Because buying a prostitute can lead to a whole array of things, like I listed.
And besides, check the violence in other countries, like the Netherlands related to prostitution. Crime is HIGHER due to prostitution. Not good to a society at all
**** No! STD would raise like crazy!
If prostitution is ever legalized, it truly is the end of times. I mean its great to have an open mind, but this is just crazy.
Because it's not like condoms exist or any other type of protection.
If it were to be legalized, obviously, to use a condom would be made as a side-law with it.
Do you even know what rape actually is? Having sex with someone WITHOUT THEIR CONSENT!!!! Women who willingly enter the world of prostitution obviously aren't being FORCED into it! Just because you see it as psychologically damaging doesn't mean that everyone else feels the same way!
I can't even believe that would think that it's a comparable analogy. Violence vs. a career choice. Unbelievable...
I have more of an idea what rape is than most people on this forum do. People just aren't getting this. I'm not going to continue repeating myself.
Maybe it's comparable to someone comparing prostitution to gay marriage...
Why can't some ATRLers realize that most prostitutes do NOT WANT TO BE PROSTITUTES, it's not a choice for them. They have to.
It may not be their first choice, but it is their choice. One isn't forced to sell their bodies in lieu of hard times. That's their choice to do it regardless of the situation.
They're still not the same thing, whish is why Bea's arguments make no sense and it's embarrassing itself. Legalize and regulate prostitution and I assure you that they won't blend as often..
But do you think they want to be doing that? Most of them don't. It is comparable to rape because most of the people who turn to prostitution literally have no-where else to turn. They don't have feelings for these men, they may be repulsed by them. They might go home and cry and cry because of what they have to do to feed themselves. They may have the same kind of mental after affects as a rape victim.
The fact is the kind of people that turn to prostitution are the kind of people who have no other option, or have a drug problem they need to feed. It is not the kind of career a kid dreams about entering. It is not a happy life.
But prostitutes know the consequences they can have and are conscious about it, unlike innocent girls that are raped randomly by someone and like someone else said there are always other options, there is always a job somewhere even in this huge crisis. A. They may not be searching for job on the right places. B. They are one of those people that do have options as jobs but won't got for them because they don't pay as well as the money they get while on prostitution (which yes, they usually get a lot of money). It's their fault if they are raped or get mentally affected.

How is it a choice when they are being forced by a pimp, family member or whoever. How is it a choice when it is that or lose their kids, shelter and be unable to put food on the table? How is it a choice when they are severely addicted to a drug and aren't able to get help?
Studies show that over 81% of prostitutes start out being raped by a family member or close friend BEFORE entering the business, and continually get raped there by "paying" cohorts. It's not that hard to understand

Ok, so what happens here?
A man is so poor he cannot afford to feed his family. He robs a little corner store because that is his only option left. No one forced him to do it, it was his choice to rob.
Is it now right to rob a store, should we make it legal?

I'm not saying it is anywhere near as bad, all I was saying is there are SOME similarities in how it could make people feel. I stand by my points but obviously people are being quite choosy with what parts they are reading.
If someone has 6 kids and is on their own, they can't physically work enough jobs to put on the table...they don't really have an option. You never know the situation properly until you are in it yourself. I still don't think it should be legalized, I think it would create as many problems as it would theoretically fix.

STDs would decrease, laws would be made, prostitutes would be safer, government would get more money, everyone wins if prostitution is legalized.
