She is definitely overrated. I stan for her and IMO she's the ultimate female music icon but I also know a lot of the hype around her throughout her career is a bit of a fluke. Do I think she's superior to GaGa and Britney? Yes. But do I think they wouldn't have existed without Madonna? No, not at all. Let's not be foolish. Madonna, Britney, GaGa are all fabricated pop stars in multiple ways, assembled by multiple people, bankrolled by major labels.

Also, Madonna is generally driven more by her ego than her intellect which is why it always baffled me that critics hailed her every move as revolutionary or analyzed the subtext in her music that wasn't really there, or if it was, wasn't there intentionally. It's sort of the equivalent of being in the right place at the right time, doing something blindly and when it's later revealed that you've done something magnificent you lie and say you meant for it to happen. That's very much how it happened for GaGa too. It's always easier to pretend you were in on a joke the whole time then to lose face.

Bey stans may not talk about liking another artist because they are first and foremost a Beyonce stan, it does not mean they hate all other artists. No-one, and I mean no-one only has 1 artist in their library. They don't talk about the artists they like other than bey but they do talk about artists they dislike.

Of course not, her discography is so versatile and much of her catalogue has stood the test of time. Her touring is unparalleled for any solo artist and for me she (along with Janet) still represents the epitome of female independence - strong, smart business women. I love her so much!

Candy Shop is a very hard song to pull off live (perhaps not the most suitable example to post) which in my opinion was executed well and displays the strength of her vocals at such a mature age as hers. Janet, today, has much better control of her voice but she would never sing live for an entire concert like Madge, let alone an entire track.
