The video was premiered to give some kind of a tribute and show support for Clarence who is seriously ill after suffering a stroke. The involvement of the 69-year-old musician in the clip was hinted earlier this week when GaGa herself wrote on Twitter, "In bed with Mommy thinking about Clarence, I can't wait for you to see the beautiful video we made together. He's a really special person.

IMO, the google comercial >> music video.
I will treat that comercial as the "Real" music video.

It was boring, to be honest. I thought she would move on to another scene after the first chorus. Now, on to the next, Bloody Mary directed by Tim Burton.

But you know she'll have her pet rat direct the next video.

I don't know the whole story of what went down behind the scenes, but from my understanding Joseph Kahn had a concept with mermaids or some **** and it wasn't what Lady GaGa wanted for the video. The Google Chrome ad was nice but there is absolutely no similarity between that and the actual video for the song. I just don't think the song needed an elaborate video with a bunch of backup dancers and set changes since this song is about her grandfather passing away, not getting drunk in the club or grinding up on some guy's disco stick.
People complained about the Alejandro and Born This Way videos because they were "too weird" and "too long" yet when she releases a toned down music video she's all of the sudden "boring."
I hope for GaGa's sake she stops listening to her fans/her followers on twitter, because it's become obvious that A) they have no clue what they are talking about, B) nothing she does will satisfy them and C) she's too talented to let a sea of cowards tear her down with every video she releases.

I'm sorry for bitching but i'm really in a disappointed mood now. She never disappoint me like this before, even BTW video >>> TEOG ..
EVen i don't love TEOG, it still a great song and doesn't deserve this kind of OG-video (solo only).
I'm sure the public won't eat this up. We'll see whether this song shoot up to the top or floating around 5-10.

My main problem with this video is that it has no relation to the song whatsoever. She could be singing anything! Also, there's no EMOTION! Humping stairs and touching her 'naughty place' in a video for a song dedicated to her Grandfather?! Really?! Robyn's Call Your Girlfriend would have even worked better than this, at least it looked interesting and held my attention!

You think this video is about being naughty?
It has nothing to do with the song?
Please, please, please watch this video again. You can say what you will about the editing and camerawork, but this video entirely embodies the feeling and ideas of that song.

I read some of the reviews and fan concepts on what it's about.
Quote:
Right before the video premiered, Gaga tweeted: “Never be afraid to dream”… We (Monsters) dreamed that the video was going to be full of mermaids, and water, and edges, but she did what she dreamed, this video represents her struggle. It starts in New York in front of her old apartment where she started writing her songs, she slowly starts to move on the streets, starts performing in bars with her band.. rejection after rejection, her hair is half brown, half blond which represents her Gaga-self taking over, she re-discovers herself, re-born’s herself as Gaga, and starts making it big, but she doesn’t change! She’s still the same person, the little playful and fun girl from New York, with a big heart and talent! I honestly love this video! It’s simple, yet beautiful.

Complete and utter ********. There was obviously an altercation, the bitch had a deadline and she did what she could.
I refuse to believe there's some hidden meaning to it.

What hidden meaning are people saying there is?
This is the most straightforward, to the point, simplistic video she's ever made. It's precisely about the song.

There isn't. The message is dead obvious. Problem is most people are too blind to see it, or too stupid to interpret it.
