The opposite of "too weird" and "too long" is not "too boring". The correct opposite would be "short and simple" and the opposite would and should have nothing to do with how exciting the video is. There are COUNTLESS simple videos that are far from boring. Beyonce - Single Ladies, Diva, Video Phone, Crazy in Love, Me Myself & I, Irreplaceable. Mariah Carey - My All, Dreamlover, Fantasy, Always Be My Baby, We Belong Together. And that's just the people I stan for. And I'd add Lady Gaga - Just Dance, Poker Face, Love Game, Eh Eh. All the mentioned videos are far from "too weird" and "too long" and are not boring at all.
It is not hard to make a music video that isn't weird and long and boring. This video is boring. As hell.
So don't try to act like it's the audience who's too fickle and doesn't know what the **** they want from Gaga. That's not the case at all.

Why are we talking about opposites and Mariah Carey? I'm pretty sure people were turned off by the Alejandro and Born This Way videos in part because they were 7+ mins long. And you've had to have heard people complain that those videos were too weird for the casual fan. Nowhere in my post did I say anything about "too weird = exciting" so I'm not sure where you're going with that argument. And the audience is absolutely too fickle! For people to respond so ridiculously to this video is disgusting. Be thankful that Lady GaGa is still making music videos and she actually cares about her fans. Apparently way more than we deserve...
