Not necessarily. The Grammys are a weird bunch. I wouldn't be surprised if she got snubbed in AOTY but got ROTY and/or SOTY nominations.

+1, Preach It... (though I have not heard GAGA's album, something tells me it will be a Masterpiece)...But I Love Adele's Album so much, and feel that the quality of her album makes her worthy of Album of the Year Recipient!!!

So, let's talk about Record and Song AT THIS POINT
I think, if nominations were to happen right now, three songs would get the double (like Need You Now, **** You and Love the Way You Lie last year): Rolling in the Deep, Firework and Born This Way. Who would be the other two?

She just released one of the most Grammy-baiting albums in a very long time to excellent reviews and sales. Isn't it already the bestselling of the year? She won 2 major awards when she was a nobody. She's going to sweep now that she's even bigger (no pun intended )

Did you not see the winner this year? The Suburbs hasn't even been certified gold. The committee is looking far beyond the mainstream now. They are going for thee Album of the Year, not an album that's commercially successful and has simply good reviews. It sucks because I love Gaga, but I get what their doing.

I think the Grammys love Adele. She came out of nowhere (due to the Saturday Night Live) and got nominated in ROTY, SOTY, Pop Female and BNA. She got nominated over Leona in BNA and beat Leona in Pop Female for "Chasing Pavements" when "Bleeding Love" was the biggest pop hit of the year and "Chasing Pavements" was only known by people who watched the Vh1 countdown.
I think people from certain female stanbases want to deny that Adele is a threat for some of these awards, but looking at Grammy history, what does the Grammys love to award? Look at the Amy and Norah domination. You can't sit up here and say that Adele ain't a threat.

Elton/Leon and Bruno would get the last two ROTY slots, and Taylor and Christina Perri would get the last two SOTY slots, I think.

And Adele certainly has the Album of the Year at this point. The reviews and sales are just the icing on the cake.

Taylor ain't getting **** - you can quote me on that, but thanks for reminding me of Bruno. I think he'd get a SOTY nod, along with Mumford and Sons - Elton/Leon would probably boot them out of ROTY though.
Poor Christina Perri - maybe, if she gets her album out in time, she can be in Best New Artist? Because she's coming nowhere close to Pop Performance.

Bruno doesn't belong anywhere near SOTY. "Grenade" is a poorly-written song and I'm sure the Academy can tell.
Christina looked like a frontrunner for a Female Pop Vocal nod until...

I wouldn't be surprised if Christina Perri gets into SOTY and BNA. We'll see how her album does because she might be able to [shockingly] get into Pop Performance, but it would depend on her success. But "Jar of Hearts" and "Arms" are Grammy General Field bait.

Do we think Ke$ha may make it into the BNA running this year? I think the reason they snubbed her was because she seemed like a novelty act with songs about P. Diddy and glitter and they didn't think she'd stick around long in the industry. Now that she's notched another #1 hit and a few more top tens and her profile seems to be getting a little bigger, I think there's a chance they might make it up to her this year. She won't win though.

You could be right, but we were talking about Gaga.
I never said Adele didn't have a solid shot at AOTY... cause she does.

Song of the Year contenders, IMO:
"Rolling in the Deep"
"Jar of Hearts"
"Grenade"
There is nothing else that deserves to be considered at the moment.
Does anyone see "Born This Way," "Firework," "Black and Yellow," etc. as strong contenders right now?
Give me a "Beg, Steal or Borrow" candidate over these.

"Firework" and "Born This Way" are actually very well written songs and I'm sure both of them - especially Katy's song - are high on the Grammy radar. I wouldn't be surprised if one or both got in. If a surprise, unknown song were to get in, it'd be "Hey Ahab" (Elton and Leon).
I say take "Grenade" out. It's a nicely produced song but the lyrics are insanely cliched and cheesy.

Who was hurt the most by today's events - Taylor or Rihanna?
And captain, SOTY is not about merit all the time - I think Firework is a PERFECT SOTY candidate - uplifting message, "co"-written by the artist, HUGE hit, chance to make up for Katy going home empty-handed three years in a row.

Rihanna, definitely. Taylor is still kinda big in country circles. But Rih has nowhere to go. In pop, she'll be overshadowed by the Mayers, the Adeles, the Gagas, etc. In R&B, the Alicias, Marys, Beyoncés, Ushers, will destroy her. The poor girl had no chance even when vocal/instrumental and female/male were separated
