I like the new rules. It's basically the same, except for the fact that undeserving artists won't be nominated anymore...which is the way it should be.

And Tony Bennett will be submitted in Traditional Pop Vocal Album. That category is still in place, and Tony is already a 10x Grammy winner there. I wouldn't be surprised if Elton and Leon go there too. That category is made for those types of artists.

I forgot about the Elton/Leon album. It got really good reviews, so I'm betting they get the third AOTY slot after 21 and MBDTF

What is that damn album called? I could totally see AOTY being some combo of Adele, Kanye, Foo Fighters, Gaga, Bey and Elton/Leon. IT JUST MAKES SENSE.

The Union and yeah Elton is completely obvious. I dunno if they'll go for Gaga for the third straight year unless this gets universal acclaim (and not just sales). Beyonce is more likely cuz the Grammys do love her...dunno about the Foos. I figure there will be a shocker that we're staring at like "the ****" (like Katy Perry this year or...well...ok I'd say them all two years ago cuz I would have never guessed any of those five as worth it but I guess the one surprise was Dave Matthews Band)

I have a feeling that Elton and Leon are going to be snubbed here like James and Carole were this year. They couldn't even win Pop Collab this year. Plus, I don't think they'll do multiple pop field albums again, assuming Gaga is submitting to dance.

No, she really won't. As I wrote earlier, now that Country Male and Female have been combined into one, Taylor has little chance of being nominated - and NO chance of winning.

She'll still get in for Country Album, but now I even doubt a Country Song nod.

Taylor will be at least nominated in Country Solo and Country Song. They're not going to ignore her reviews and sales, I don't think.

Unless this album is a critical success (and when I say that, I'm talking about UNIVERSAL ACCLAIM), I don't necessarily see GaGa as a HUGE threat. If they snubbed her for "Bad Romance" for ROTY/SOTY, then she could be left out of the general field altogether this year. The voters may want to spread the love and go elsewhere. We'll see.

Gaga is NOT submitting the album to Dance. As a matter of fact, if Judas is aiming at ROTY/SOTY material, if won't be submitted to Dance either. Her team is smart enough to realize that Dance nominees simply don't get to win the Big 3.

Well for ROTY, they've lately been enjoying picking three songs from the same field and two other ones. Their fave this year was rap, there was no way Lady A wasn't getting nominated, and I guess they were feeling the Cee Lo love. They don't even like dance songs in that category. SOTY, I don't know what was happening. I was thinking she was going to win until the nominations came out.

I have a feeling they'll want to make up for last year's snub, especially if the music is good. Gaga seems to be becoming somewhat of a Grammy favorite.

Right. I'm a little skeptical about Gaga in the AOTY category. The committee clearly ain't messin' around anymore. We all know how they feel (or did feel) about pop, let alone dance music.

That means no more Katy Perrys in general fields. Such a tragedy.

I'd rather she get nominated in the big 3 and not win anything but win the dance field, then get nominated in the big 3 and the pop field and get swept away by Hurricane Adele. I'm sure her team feels the same way.

I don't see why she'd be snubbed this time around. They nominated her debut for the big one last year, which is very rare, and they nominated her second album this year, and it became the first EP to ever get nominated. For her third effort which is full-length, she should be a shoo-in, no?
