I don't think the majority of the world considers America two continents, at least not the ones that are actually in "America"

Unfortunately..........

North America and South America are now treated as separate continents in India, China, and most English-speaking countries, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Furthermore, the concept of two American continents is prevalent in much of Asia. However, in earlier times they were viewed as a single continent known as America, with this viewpoint remaining common in the United States until World War II.[13] This remains the more common vision in Spain, Portugal and Latin American countries, where they are taught as a single continent

To summarize, and repeat myself, the vast majority of the world recognizes two American continents, North and South. Also, the view of America as a single continent is archaic.

Deeds, the problem with your argument is that the world has heard it already, and they said NO! . Give up

But in all seriousness, words are often redefined beyond their origional meaning.... In other words we changed the term... Though more of the change went to "americans" as opposed to "america"....

I'm slow.... I didn't realize your argument was that if the Olympic organization recognizes America as one continent then it therefore IS.... Considering how archaic the olympic games are, i'm not surprised to see them utilizing the same Christopher Colombus era "knowledge" that others have embraced

Though I'm pretty sure Mexico also believes their two seperate continents.... they signed NAFTA with the US / Canada (NORTH American Free Trade Agreement.) It looks to be mostly just South America that considers it as one.

Well their government consider's themselves to be in North America at least. And I have some Mexican friends myself.... all who know it as "North America". Though it could just depend on what part of Mexico your from.

If you look up any information on continents, it states that it is treated as two seperate continents in ALL regions, with the exception of Latin America, Spain and Portugual.

Someone should start a new poll: how many continents are there?
I have to admit that I was taught that Australia was a continent. I felt embarrassed when I grew up and realized it's not.
I was also taught that there were only 4 oceans in the world. Oregon state public schools!
