Namie could very well suffer another decline ... no one can tell the future but the thing about Namie is she's been switching it up with each album which is part of the reason (IMO) she's been able to make a comeback.

People on atrl use the term 'flop' way to much. Ayu isn't as successful as she used to be, but her sales are still very reasonable.

Well, okay, she's not flopping, but if we compare her actual sales to the sales of her previous albums...yes, she's flopping.

But I know she'll be in the music industry for one more decade.

I think her sales will decline very slowly, she won't keep on falling though.

I think she'll keep selling less and less (slowly) until she gets to a point where all her albums sell in the 150k-200k range.

& honestly besides "Sparkle", "EnergizE" & "rollin" it was pretty much a typical Ayu album.

I'm really curious to see what Utada ends up selling first week and in total with Singles Collection Vol.2. I think she'll do 500-600k first week and 1m-1.3m total. What do you guys think?

I do think that Ayu needs to experiment more. I mean with it leading up to her 50th single I would have though she'd excite us more, but she has disappointed many of us, excluding me. The only thing that has bothered me is the constant releases of ballads. Her singles don't represent the quality of her albums either. However Ayu has experimented in the past, and I think she has pretty much showed us all a range of different styles. You can't really put all of her songs into one genre. The reason i think Ayu's sales are declining are because she has pretty much showed us everything she can do. I really do hope her next album will consist a variety of different songs, and I do hope it sells past 300,000. I am pretty sure she won't suffer huge decline for at least another 5 years.

I think just about the same especially if they promote it as Utada's farewell album.

Now that you've posted that. I do think that the typical Ayu songs such as "MOON" and "You Were..." are best saved for the album or maybe Promotional Videos. We need something different for the singles, not the same stuff.

Sparkle is one of my favorites singles from her too, hopefully she'll release something similar eventually.

And honestly, IDK why everyone is so dissapointed at her, I actually loved MOON/blossom and I love Crossroad too. Oh, and Virgin Road made me cry. lol

I'm loving her singles but I just wish she would release something dancey and catchy...I don't want to get sick of her ballads.

I think one reason Avex won't release anything too edgey from Ayu as a single is that they want to make sure her crazy rabid fan base buys it to keep her #1 streak.
