Partly. I mean even before the controversy BUT & Freaky hadn't done as well as people had expected so a decline is only natural after a peak anyways. I think Kingdom would have probably sold about 750-800k without the controversy but I personally don't think the controversy affected anything besides Kingdom.

It may be part of the reason but not that much.

Everyone's sales are going down though and UNIVERSE still sold more than enough for platinum.

The thing is Koda also use to be cool with aunties/women above 35 before the controversy. She was loved by alot of people in that age group. She did lose a lot of them after the whole thing happened but her sales have still been very good.

Actually label sales are more accurate while Oricon does not cover many small outlets like popular super markets / convenient stores for example that sell CDs.

Namie is doing extremely well currently but its no 1 million +

Namie is on her second peak while Koda already had her peak and is stabilizing. She is a consistent seller now

The comeback hype is from 2008 and onwards.
She's been selling more & more with each studio album since 2005 ... 'Queen of Hip-Pop' outselling 'STYLE', 'PLAY' out selling 'Queen of Hip-Pop' and now P<F out-selling 'PLAY'.

I think she can out-sell P<F with her next studio album if she releases some quality singles and actually does some promotion.
P<F could have sold alot more than it has if she actually went out there and performed. The promotion for P<F was pretty dismal if you ask me...
