The savage anthem of 2016. Needed Me is DJ Mustards only song with a unique production, and god does it work. This insane production and Rihanna's merciless delivery makes this song truly magic. It was rough seeing this being released at the same time as KIB, and then this one doing amazing while the other.. well.. not going to say it.
But I can't hate it for it, NM has only been getting better ever since day 1 and it shows Rihanna at her best. Bad ass and not giving any ****s (not about music ofc lolz).
Needed Me is a song like no other and it was truly an anthem.
it's funny that this wasn't even my favorite from the start, but the Lemonade ranking changes almost everytime (with an exception of Sandcastles and Forward woops). DHY is the most bad ass we have ever seen Bey, and DHY is the perfect representation of Lemonade. It's unapologetic, it's bad ass, it's empowering, it's experimental, it has slight political undertones, it shares the story of the cheating husband in the marriage (Jay Z, or nah?). DHY has made Beyoncé arguably one of the most interesting superstars we have ever had. I can't wait to see what she can give us next.
There wasn't a better pick to bring Dancehall music back in popularity again than Rihanna. The great and unique choice of patois, with intentionally cheesy lyrics by Drake. Work is not the best masterpiece you will ever hear, but it's still enjoyable as **** to this day. It's funny that with such a minimalistic beat, minimalistic lyrics that can wrongly be perceived as '''gibberish'' and yet here we are with one of the most defining song of 2016. Work is so gloriously enjoyable, from the hmmms to the chorus.
#7: Kanye West - Ultralight Beam

ULB is flawless from start to ending. It's touching, it's not too much of the Kanye the public despises and we have amazing contributions, like the excellent contribution by Chance The Rapper. The song is simple, organized and it's gospel, one of my favorite genres. ULB is the perfect song we needed about faith (in God) and it couldn't have come at a better time. It always makes me question my religion too. I have been raised as a christian but I don't really feel the need to go the church or to pray every day, yet I guess I still believe? ULB is the song that I really needed. It's flawless.
there is no other song on STARBOY that reaches the highs of.. starboy. An incredible production about Abel realizing how he has become a superstar; a starboy. With this song The Weeknd proves why he is arguably the most interesting popular male artist we have. It's not some generic song like CSTF!, it's actually quite dark with a quick and uptembo beat. the ''ha-ha-ha's'' are a nice addition and this was the perfect song to start the era with. I am happy he chose this song to start a whole new era. It's divine.
It shows a vocal delivery by Rihanna we have NEVER seen from her before. It's somewhat reminiscent of Amy Winehouse, but Rihanna doesn't mimic her. It might be a hommage, but what we hear on this track is Rihanna finally trying out new stuff. It's incredibly soulful and extremely satisfying to hear her voice like this on a track because pre 2015 we have never seen it really shine like this. It was always in my top half of ANTI, but after that incredible performance at the BBMA's LOTB has become an all-time Rih favorite of mine. Now onto the video
I exactly remember that morning when I woke up and find out ANTI was FINALLY released. it was a moment of pure joy and KIB was probably the most infamous track on the album. We all heard the demos and the Glass John drama and to find out it was actually on the album was great news. The moment it started playing I was in shock. The guitars in the opening almost gave me an orgasm, they were so damn satisfying. It was hard not to put this throwback jam at #1, because it's pop perfection and without a doubt the best single released this year. It's so sexual, but done so stylefully.
#1: Rihanna feat. SZA - Consideration
It was the first track I listened to that day and I was so pleasantly surprised. It has a great production and the vocal blend between SZA and Rihanna is incredible. Consideration is also the best thing about ANTI because it really is anti. It's Rihanna finally speaking up about the past of her career, but in a way that we know Rih will do it. It's the Rihanna we have always heard and loved, but this time it's really Rihanna. Consideration has become my most played track of the year (with more than 100 plays of difference between this and the #2). It's insanely addictive and still sounds good as day 1. It truly marks a new time for Rihanna and I couldn't be prouder. oh and no I am not ashamed for putting Rih 5 times in the top 10 hoez.

ahhhh, the amount of talent in this top 10, especially in the top 4 hihi. Can't say that I'm surprised about the #1 but it's a deserved one Rih gave as an ALBUM this year.
Love F.U.B.U. as your top Solange pick, it's perfect Don't Hurt Yourself was my initial fave and while I now prefer All Night and Love Drought, it still gets me every time, the ANGER wow. Ultralight Beam is possibly best album opener of the year for me.
The Rih domination, it's so cool that your fave delivered a body of work you loved so much. Consideration and Needed Me are my faves, career highlights tbh.
