Same Ol' Mistakes beating out the 2 trashy Rihanna songs
Boombayah is alright but Whistle and Playing With Fire >
Secrets is one of my faves on Starboy, I Feel It Coming is good too
Close was cute for maybe a month but I don't use ha anymore.
Boombayah feels like it's a biT too high.
Especially since it's a lot higher than Whistle.
Whistle >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>....>>>>>>>>>>> Boombayah
Boombayah is (k)pop perfection

#23: A Tribe Called Quest - We The People...
#22: Rihanna - Same Ol' Mistakes
#21: Alicia Keys - Illusion Of Bliss
#20: Alicia Keys - Pawn It All
soulful and classic R&B, Pawn It All is without the best song on HERE. because it's the Alicia Keys we expect to get, but then EVEN better.
#19: Flume feat. Kai - Never Be Like You
A sparkling but distorted production alongside captivating vocals by Kai. Never Be Like You is a song that people don't necessarily expect from DJs. It's mainstream enough to get the attention, but it's anything but generic. There is no lazy ass drop, there is no basic ass lyrics. A meaningful song that hits highs that nonsense DJs like Guetta could learn from. Maybe an exxageration, but this is truly a masterpiece. So captivating.
#18: Rihanna - Higher
A masterpiece. This song is full of emotions and is quite raw and pure. The vocals don't need to be streamlined for the mainstream audience to consume, we need an emotional display of Rihanna being drunk and not having much shame at all. All she wants is love. The song is helped by an incredible violin-led instrumental that makes Higher not just a standout on ANTI, but also a standout track in her discography. An emotion filled highlight.
#17: Anderson .Paak - The Bird
my favorite song from Malibu. Maybe a weird choice, but The Bird is incredible from start to beginning. The subtly adding of layers (starting from a guitar and going from trumpets to piano). The Bird is an experience that works so well because it works so subtle. The vocal delivery is incredible and truly help with telling the story. A personal song that is executed perfectly.
#16: Bruno Mars - Versace On The Floor
One of the reasons why I might get into the album maybe later this year. VOTF is When I Was Your Man meets the more 'retro' sound combined with a more sexual feeling that we heard on 24K Magic. The throwback sounds on this, but still it sounding fresh as **** is its strong point. A slow-jam that is so sexually captivating that it's without a doubt a highlight in Bruno's discography. He delivered here.

#23: A Tribe Called Quest - We The People...
#22: Rihanna - Same Ol' Mistakes
#21: Alicia Keys - Illusion Of Bliss
#15: NAO - Inhale Exhale
so this might not have been released in 2016... but I don't give a flying ****. When finishing my top 15 albums I finally listened to NAO and discovered so many great tracks, and this one was the highlight and I could not have not mentioned it. It's fast-forward, quick and entertaining. The two voice delivery in this song make this song even better and that somewhat ''explosive'' chorus makes this song incredibly enjoyable.
#14: Beyoncé - Formation
growing from a 6/10 at first listen to a career defining classic, whew! The simple, yet politically filled lyrics don't take themselves too seriously, but serious enough to get the message across. The raw and pure beatdrop featured on the track makes this song unique in Beyoncé's discography and lbr here, it MUST be together with the video. The stunning video that feature multiple sceneries is like BEYONCE (2013) in one video. It might sound a bit strange on Lemonade, as it doesn't really work as closer, but I can't be that mad about it.
Not the last Bey song to make an appearance btw
#13: A Tribe Called Quest - Enough!!
xxxxxxxxxxxx
My favorite from the incredible hiphop album by ATCQ. There is something so captivating about Enough!! that it puts itself above all the other (incredible) songs on the album. It's a song that shows the strong points of ATCQ; it doesn't try to be trendy but it could still fit easily in this time. It's not as politically toned as We The People.. or several other tracks on the album, but it still shares ag great meaning and is lyrically very strong. It's a track that was timeless from the start and thus will remain that way
#12: Kanye West feat. Rihanna - Famous
Two songs in one, and it works. Famous sees Rihanna acting as fame herself, singing Nina Simone lyrics in a vocal delivery we have not seen before of Rih, thus showing her incredible versatility. After a bit of laidback vibe we get straight in the action with Kanye spicing it up and having a more intense production filled with controversial lines, especially the Taylor line that was still a topic months later with the #KimExposedTaylorParty. Famous is strong because the track goes hard, but because of the Rihanna parts and the amazing outro we see a track that is unique and versatile in itself.
It's provocative, classic Kanye, but helped with a strong vocal delivery by Rihanna who does not overpower but also doesn't feel a necessary.
And which artist just misses the top 10 by a hair?

#11: Ariana Grande - Touch It
Touch It is pop perfection and it's by far my favorite on the album. We have insane vocals by Ariana, but the song is also so SO charming. It's an addictive classic that demolishes all the dance tracks we have seen on her album My Everything. It's her best song after Love Me Harder.
Not too big on Higher and I don't remember how that Bruno sing sounds like but the rest of this set Inhale Exhale is def one of my NAO faves, what a song. Enough!! is right after We the People... and The Space Program for me, what a killer, and Touch It is one of the very few moments on DW which actually deserves its acclaim hihi Pawn It All is obvs 10/10, in my trinity with Illusion of Bliss and In Common

also this so much, I would never think it'd end up as one of my favourite Bey tracks on my first listen but here we are.
I feel you. Inhale Exhale should be included every year now haha
Famous, Formation, Never Be Like You & The Bird are my faves here.
IE is such a bop too can't believe I didn't know NAO for so long

I wish Higher was longer, but I love it. Another great pair of song sets.
I wish Higher was longer too, but I kinda like that it's so short too. It gives it a message.
Yessss @ Touch It. It's in my top 5 from Ariana, amazing song. @ Famous, Higher (it's a bit too high tho ), VOTF and NBLY. Formation grew on me but it's still overrated. (as a song, the video/message is great)
That Alicia song is good too
