Aaliyah wasn't the kind of artist who released the typical and same generic sound most of her "peers" were releasing at the time. Her target group was different to Brandy's or Beyoncé at the time. FACT is that she was doing well with her highest first week sales ever and with little to no promotion, a contact for a movie and a growing fan base. Why is that hard to accept for some of you? Also, queen has inspired so many artists overseas like Rihanna from Barbados and Hikaru Utada from Japan.

Another fabrication. And you attacked Bey first, because you don't know how to have a conversation about your fave without getting in your feelings. Y'all brought her up, as y'all always do.
It's old. Get over it.

On the very 1st page everyone was being positive until the hive came in. The pressed Hive cant even enter an Aaliyah thread without constantly tearing down her career?
If yall wanna shade aaliyah beyonce will get shaded as well, period. You know how this works. You actually think 10 beyonce stans are going to keep shading Aaliyah for pages on end and Beyonce wont be mentioned? Please.

Not the hive entering Aaliyah's thread trying to drag and then say Aaliyah stans are pressed when trying to drag back.
Move.

She was destined for stardom. YES she was. She was a godly woman and good things were going to happen to her. She was already queen of crossing over to movies and making amazing soundtracks yes she was. Try Again? Are you that somebody? My angel was very talented and smart, yes she was. But then something happened; Dame Dash happened. He sacrificied Aaliyah. Why? Because his career was completely flopping. no one wanted anything to do with him. so he thought sacrificing Aaliyah would bring him back into good circles. and guess what? The entire industry knew. Jay-Z knew. Miss Boo Rachel Roy knew. Beyonce knew. MJB knew. They all damn knew. Timbaland knew. Missy Elliot knew. Yeah, they pretended to be Aaliyahs friends but they knew. Well I take that back the good sis Mary J Blige was a good friend to Aaliyah. but she was too scared to Dame and Jay to say anything. You see, Dame was desperatley trynna save his record company and his relationship with Jay Z. Beyonce knew damn well with Aaliyah gone she could become the new queen because her relationship with Jay would bring her to that level. yes Bey Bey is THAT dirty. she stole everything from Aaliyah. her costumes, her music videos, her crossing over into acting. everything. very dirty. yet she sat up there and acted nice with miss queen Aaliyah cause she knew she would soon be taking the crown. And miss Rachel Roy was promised a career in fashion with Aaliyah out the way. cause Aaliyah was a fashion icon, yes she was. she made Tommy Hilfiger what it was today. she set trends. and miss thot roy got her fashion line. it did well for 2 years but then it completely flopped because the lord was NOT going to let anyone profit from aaliyah's death, no he wasnt. that is how good the lord is. amen. He made sure Aaliyah rested in peace and not a PENNY was made off her name. thats why that complete flop of a movie about Aaliyahs life made by miss wendy williams flopped. He was not having that. But back to Aaliyahs future. yes she was destined to be a star. The industry loved her, yes she did. And so did everyone else. I just wish Aaliyah listened to Miss Blige's warnings in her lyrics. and listened to her dreams. Aaliyah would dream about "flying high" and feeling very peaceful after flying. YES. she did. this is one month before she died she told a german magazine that. You see? the Lord was trying to protect her. but Aaliyah fought through it. cause of that low down dirty dog Dame Dash. And guess what? Bey aint safe now either. yeah she had her time but now the industry ready to make queen Rihanna the new it girl. Bey better be careful or they might do her in. they did Miss Keri Hilson in. they did miss fantasia barrino in. and miss jennifer hudson in cause they were not willign to be puppets. they already served the lord, yes they did. nope they had the integrity to not bow down. so the industry said "BYE" and destroyed their careers. cause thats what they do. its nasty. very very nasty. But enough about Beyonce back to Miss Aaliyah. her voice was amazing. her looks were amazing. her talent was there. she was destined for great things yes she was. and she is a legend. she had more impact on the music business than anyone out today. Look at all the new kids up on the block. Miss Ariana, miss tinashe, miss beyonce, miss rihanna. They all followed in Aaliyah footsteps. Aaliyah, Miss Brandy, Miss Monica, Miss Mariah , Miss Mary J, and Miss Jackson all paved the way for what the girls doing now. and y'all think whats happening now is new and exciting have a damn seat i seen this over and over again. there are no legends in this generation. everything just copied. copied from the true divas that paved the way. So yall keep listening to your new faves, thinking they changing the game but know that the rules were already made. yes they were. be blessed yall

Mess at this thread still ongoing.
Mentioning Rihanna & Aaliyah fashion is pointless. Rihanna has said numerous times Aaliyah style was influential and that she gotten inspired by some of her looks. The same way Rih bigs up Lil Kim style in the 90s.
Mentioning Bey & Aaliyah is also pointless. You gotta be real delusional if you think she was going to overshadow Bey. Being that Bey came from DC they never were direct "competition" in the same way that Brandy, Monica and Aaliyah were.
--------
Aaliyah was the first artist I ever stanned for so I think it's dope that Aaliyah legacy is still remembered in the black community. But sheesh y'all need to let her rest in peace instead of creating these alternative scenarios on should've, would've, could've.

So childish, with your selective reading. Why are you acting like people can't take a trip to the first page to receive tea? Your lot mentioned Bey first, and nothing will change that. Don't mention her if you're not equip to handle the ensuing argument that comes with that. There are Hive members who said nothing bad about your girl in this thread, and there are some, as well as other fanbases, who did the opposite. Why y'all ALWAYS hone in on the Hive is beyond me.
And no, we're not going to continue shading anyone, cause the present is here and the future is calling. We have **** to actually look forward to.

I love Aaliyah but she wouldn't have been any bigger than Monica, Brandy, Ashanti, etc.

1st three pages Was Aaliyah slander from the hive. So again, be mad at YOUR messy stanbase for always being messy and coming in Aaliyah threads starting sh!t.
If you have sh!t to look forward to, why are you girls here discussing a career from over 15 years ago?

Y'all can't handle facts. Period. And if we didn't discuss the Once upon a Times with your tired asses, you would have NOTHING to discuss, besides **** that happened 15 years ago.
Either way, stop bringing up Bey as some sort of highlight in Liyah's career.
And most importantly, stop trying to shade others by saying where they would/wouldn't be if your fave was still alive, just to turn around and get mad when you get corrected. Just because she's dead doesn't give you a free pass to say whatever the **** you want about someone else's fave.

Oh i see. So Beyonce stans calling Aaliyah flops and other names is ok because its "facts" (which isn't even factual) but not ok to say Aaliyah was obviously doing well for herself if she had your own fave interviewing her? This one sided mess! Scram.
And we dont need these threads, hun. An Aaliyah stan didnt make it. Aaliyah is constantly talked about, referenced, and music is always sampled in the actual music world and industry. You think we need an atrl thread for some type of validation?

A "Once Upon a Time" tea. Like get over it. Everyone thriving now, would still be thriving even if Liyah was still alive.
