Honestly, the statement in the OP isn't even a popular one. The argument I CONSTANTLY see is "Beyoncé would be nothing if Aaliyah was alive" happen but there's literally no fact to that. When Aaliyah died, her album did alright it's first week, but it started to drop.

As tough as it is to admit, her death was the best thing to happen to her career because it cemented her status as a Icon and gave her so much more influence and impact she wouldn't have had without it. Y'all praise her as an amazing vocalist when her vocals have always been bad/mediocre. Y'all praise her as an amazing dancer when her dancing was not even that great to begin with; two videos won't change that. She never wrote a song in her entire career, yet she was SOOOO talented

. She isn't some Rihanna with the crossover appeal since she never had a global hit in her career. Rihanna had SOS & Unfaithful, massive global smashes, Within her first 2 years in the business. Aaliyah was never marketed as the global artist Rihanna was, even after her death

She was moving towards movie anyway so she was probably going the Queen Latifah route. No one knows where Aaliyah would've been had she died, so threads like these are pointless. Signs point to no, but who knows. She could've pulled a Dark Horse and miraculously smashed the charts.

All we have are the several CLASSIC songs of hers.

And I made that comparison because Aaliyah was just starting to cross over and so was Rihanna

And miss Rachel Roy was promised a career in fashion with Aaliyah out the way. cause Aaliyah was a fashion icon, yes she was. she made Tommy Hilfiger what it was today. she set trends. and miss thot roy got her fashion line. it did well for 2 years but then it completely flopped because the lord was NOT going to let anyone profit from aaliyah's death, no he wasnt. that is how good the lord is. amen. I just wish Aaliyah listened to Miss Blige's warnings in her lyrics. and listened to her dreams. Aaliyah would dream about "flying high" and feeling very peaceful after flying. YES. she did. this is one month before she died she told a german magazine that. Look at all the new kids up on the block. Miss Ariana, miss tinashe, miss beyonce, miss rihanna. They all followed in Aaliyah footsteps. Aaliyah, Miss Brandy, Miss Monica, Miss Mariah , Miss Mary J, and Miss Jackson all paved the way for what the girls doing now. and y'all think whats happening now is new and exciting have a damn seat i seen this over and over again. there are no legends in this generation. everything just copied. copied from the true divas that paved the way.
