But then something happened; Dame Dash happened. He sacrificied Aaliyah. Why? Because his career was completely flopping. no one wanted anything to do with him. so he thought sacrificing Aaliyah would bring him back into good circles. and guess what? The entire industry knew. Jay-Z knew. Miss Boo Thot Rachel Roy knew. Beyonce knew. MJB knew. They all damn knew. Timbaland knew. Missy Elliot knew. Yeah, they pretended to be Aaliyahs friends but they knew. Well I take that back the good sis Mary J Blige was a good friend to Aaliyah. but she was too scared to Dame and Jay to say anything. You see, Dame was desperatley trynna save his record company and his relationship with Jay Z. Beyonce knew damn well with Aaliyah gone she could become the new queen because her relationship with Jay would bring her to that level. yes Bey Bey is THAT dirty. she stole everything from Aaliyah. her costumes, her music videos, her crossing over into acting. everything. very dirty. yet she sat up there and acted nice with miss queen Aaliyah cause she knew she would soon be taking the crown. And miss thot Rachel Roy was promised a career in fashion with Aaliyah out the way. cause Aaliyah was a fashion icon, yes she was. she made Tommy Hilfiger what it was today. she set trends. and miss thot roy got her fashion line. it did well for 2 years but then it completely flopped because the lord was NOT going to let anyone profit from aaliyah's death, no he wasnt. that is how good the lord is. amen. He made sure Aaliyah rested in peace and not a PENNY was made off her name. thats why that complete flop of a movie about Aaliyahs life made by miss wendy williams flopped. He was not having that. But back to Aaliyahs future. yes she was destined to be a star. The industry loved her, yes she did. And so did everyone else. I just wish Aaliyah listened to Miss Blige's warnings in her lyrics. and listened to her dreams. Aaliyah would dream about "flying high" and feeling very peaceful after flying. YES. she did. this is one month before she died she told a german magazine that. You see? the Lord was trying to protect her. but Aaliyah fought through it. cause of that low down dirty dog Dame Dash. And guess what? Bey aint safe now either. yeah she had her time but now the industry ready to make queen Rihanna the new it girl. Bey better be careful or they might do her in. they did Miss Keri Hilson in. they did miss fantasia barrino in. and miss jennifer hudson in cause they were not willign to be puppets. they already served the lord, yes they did. nope they had the integrity to not bow down. so the industry said "BYE" and destroyed their careers. cause thats what they do. its nasty. very very nasty. But enough about Beyonce back to Miss Aaliyah. her voice was amazing. her looks were amazing. her talent was there. she was destined for great things yes she was. and she is a legend. she had more impact on the music business than anyone out today. Look at all the new kids up on the block. Miss Ariana, miss tinashe, miss beyonce, miss rihanna. They all followed in Aaliyah footsteps. Aaliyah, Miss Brandy, Miss Monica, Miss Mariah , Miss Mary J, and Miss Jackson all paved the way for what the girls doing now. and y'all think whats happening now is new and exciting have a damn seat i seen this over and over again. there are no legends in this generation. everything just copied. copied from the true divas that paved the way. So yall keep listening to your new faves, thinking they changing the game but know that the rules were already made. yes they were. be blessed yall

Aaliyah going into television/film was actually inspired by Brandy Norwood who did it with Moesha in 1994, way before Aaliyah did.
Also Tinashe has gone on record, SEVERAL TIMES to say she never listened to Aaliyah growing up
I'm crying at you saying Janet was inspired by Aaliyah when every style and every "impactful" thing Aaliyah did is a direct copy of Janet. A KII!

Aaliyah's "success" and "impact" is so overrated. Her album was literally flopping before she died. She has no huge hits whatsoever and it's not like she was booking some groundbreaking roles acting wise.

If you really cared enough about her, you wouldn't continuously argue with people about her. it's somewhat understandable that stans of other artists desperately need recognition from other fans of music (**** knows why but it's their insecurities) but for a woman that's dead? Also making predictions/assumptions based on her death. It's the lowest form of disrespect.
Some people here really have issues and it's shocking that threads like this exist. Where are your parents? Who taught you right from wrong because this is unacceptable. God forbid anyone who knows Aaliyah personally reads this vile forum.

I love Brandy and yes, Brandy was very impactful on the industry. very much so.
and I never said Janet was inspired by Aaliyah. The new kids have been inspired by Aaliyah along with the other legends including Miss Jackson

I actually question it whenever she's on the radio what she'd be doing if she was still alive. I'm not a huge fan and probably never will be, but she was talented.

Her album was already gold within a month's of it's release. Where's the flop? I could see if she toured, put out 10 videos and then the album stalled, but that was never the case. You cant judge an entire album era's future based on what it did in one month. Gtfoh.
And back then, the roles she was booking was huge. Who else was doing it besides Janet and Whitney? Ill wait.
And Aaliyah's singles did well considering she was an independent artist. I mean billboard even wrote an article about how she was robbed of several hits because of her sh!tty label.

And saying certain artists wouldn't be successful if she was alive makes no sense either.

Selling millions of albums while also having a 4.0 gpa is far from a flop. Why did Aaliyah's flop ass have beyonce on the red carpet broadcasting Aaliyah's career moves? Sit.

Koo aid dummy, brandy acted before Aaliyah because Brandy already had acting background with Thea. Aaliyah expressed interest in acting (because of whitney) since aanban era. She said she wanted to act AFTER SHE FINISHED HIGH SCHOOL. Which is why roles fell into her lap soon as she graduated. Keep telling lies though. One day itll be true.
Ps. Brandy was on instagram the other day saying how she always wanted Aaliyah's sound and style and how darkchild and her purposely copied aaliyah and timbaland. Move

I'm not sure that she would flop 100% bc the future is interchangeable & unknown but there is a logical explanation as to why people would think that considering her last album and the songs from it weren't doing well initially & the Timbaland sound was going out of style
|
Her last album was intially outdoing One In a Million and at Timbaland going out style when it lasted till 2008.

Not only did self titled sell well in its first week, it also holds the record for the biggest first week sales between Aaliyah, Brandy, Monica, and Mya.
And timbaland produced beyonce's biggest hit recently that used arabian sounds.. Something Aaliyah already pioneered in 2001.

I don't understand this "Red Album was flopping" thing at all .
Like yeah, We Need a Resolution flopped but other than that she had achieved her highest charting album on her career, her biggest first week sales and her most popular album worldwide - all of that before her death.

first of all Gomez fan learn the definition of literal. Miss Aaliyah was not a fish. she did not have gills to flop. Albums are inanimate objects. they cannot flop.
second of all this is ironic because Gomez ("Selena" by first name only is reserved for the legendary Miss Selena Quintanilla r.i.p) has been caught directly stealing Aaliyah's style
this is aaliyah's look from head to toe. I guess Aaliyah had no impact huh?

She was already flopping when she was alive
Rihanna debut song peaked at #2. That alone says all.
