OT: The Rap in OP is trash and are used for nothing more than mindless bops. There's plenty of good rap music out nowadays. It's just that most of it isn't played on the radio, and the stuff that does get radio play is generally generic garbage (much like the Pop music getting radio play nowadays
). Rap has to be by far the most diverse genre there is. People complaining about how it's not melodic enough can easily find Rap music that contains plenty of elements of Pop, R&B, and Electronic/EDM elements. The ones arguing about how Rap has trash lyrics (when half their faves drop steaming **** for them to lap up
) have definitely never sat through a Kendrick Lamar album, and he's just the tip of the iceberg.
That being said, I'm not surprised by the mindset. The members of ATRL generally listen to what they hear on the radio exclusively so the Rap they hear on the radio is their only perception of the genre
