Avoiding hip hop is an impossible task. Other genres try to incorporate stuff from us and look super corny. We invent all the trends, sounds, slang, dances, style. Its everywhere

Sweetheart, it's 2016. This isn't the 90s anymore. Majority of Rap released now doesn't contain homophobic lyrics. Anybody being homophobic is called out (rightfully so) also, so what is the excuse?

There's been homophobic pop songs left and right but you'll never see a thread on that like you do here for Rap. I know y'all stuck on the times but...

All Rap isn't the same, it's diverse and anyone can find something they like. To shut it out because how homophobic it was years ago is unfair.

A lot of the modern "gangster" rap just isn't very good.

Plus, the radio is littered with people like 2 Chainz, Ty Dolla $ign and Future, who I don't find interesting or engaging.

There IS exciting and interesting rap out there, it's just not on the radio, which means a lot of us here wouldn't be exposed to it unless we actively pursued it.

Rap/Hip-Hop is one of my favorite genres, but a lot of what's played on urban radio is just genuinely not enjoyable to my ears.

Its homophobic tendencies aren't the sole reason it's shut out - for you to focus on that one aspect is kind of bleh. This is a pop forum, for the 100th time. 98% of the people on here stan for pop genre talent.

Some people just don't like rap music - it's not that hard of a concept to understand. Just like the people who listen to rap and don't want anything to do with pop - their views are valid as well.

Nothing to cry about, honestly.
