Exactly.

What else is she going to do at the VMAs that doesn't include the tactics that people are using to have extended interviews and performances because normal time would not make an impact... the extended time gives them impact for a few days and people forget.

She closed the chapter on TCAs.

BBMAs needs to be her VMAs circa 1999-2008

AMAs needs to be her VMAs circa 2011 except she actually performs

She keeps on dodging the world tour thing. Sigh

But yes PCAs, BBMAs and AMAs needs to be her trinity

This! And the worst thing is thay didnt let Britney win for videos like BOMT, Oops, Toxic and Slave. Those video should have been videos of the year. None of her peers could be able to make classic videos like her.

The producers had to have known exactly what they were doing, and I'm salty over the fact that they seemingly did Britney dirty once again. Like how could you possibly have Britney's performance lined up directly after Beyonces, knowing full well the kind of reaction that 15 minute show stopping number would garner. No one could've followed suit, not even Britney.


But alas it is what it is. Both performances served their parts, as Make Me seems to be doing well on iTunes, and Beyonce's tour will likely remain sold out. Not gonna lie, I have a LOT of respect for Beyoncé as a performance artist nowadays, and last night further enforced that respect. If I could afford good tickets, I'd totally see The Formation tour.

Yes all of this! I love Bey so much she's one of my faves so this isn't anything against her. I just feel MTV really dropped the ball and coulda just gave her a 5 minute slot like the others. Anyways guess it just highlights the trash MTV has become. I'm so proud of our girl though, she was energetic and did her thing!

She knew that Rihanna would perform multiple times but MTv knew what they were doing in 2011 and they knew in 2016.

Britney pre 2003 would have never been put in that situation but then again that was a different MTV crew

MTV as a whole has gone down the drain and you have more people in their with their own agendas.

It's done to highlight certain people with their extended speeches, performances etc that wouldn't get the same attention if they had the same treatment as any regular big star.

Britney got her vanguard, she got a performance that was better than leaving on 2007's

Britney probably won't perform at the VMAs anymore in the same way Madonna won't etc.

Many people were calling out MTV (industry people) for those shady ways.

Don't think that wasn't an agreement in place to make that happen.

Don't be bothered. The performances of 2016 VMAs were not iconic and will be forgotten next week.

Britney's legacy continues. her single got great exposure and finally a performance promo and others just have to do extra to get their attention

Just be grateful, Britney just doesn't need to do all of that...she just does her thing.

Not addressing the cheap production and the bad lipping, she did her thing and the GP is going to think she did a good job

I mean they couldn't even get a majority negative review though some publications tried. There were still quite a few positive reviews.

Thanks bb. It's just frustrating to see someone as sweet and humble as her constantly get the short end of the deal. I'll definitely be there for her in Vegas showing my support in October! Oddly this makes me love her even more (if that's even possible )

Wow you all don't seem to get how it works with those type of deals

It's not accident that directly after britney accepted her vanguard in 2011 that she was pushed to announce Beyonce. It's not accident that she performs directly after an extended performance from Beyonce.

MTV did those things so that Beyonce would attend. there are terms that MTV agrees to in order for certain artists to appear.

Do you think Beyonce knowing she couldn't open up the show because of Rihanna was going to go after Britney? no, her terms was for Britney to go after her. Britney's team didn't care just like with the 2011 situation which is why toddlers in tiaras did her tribute.

MTV (the current crew) knows that certain artists do care and will come as long as they agree to terms and some artists don't really care and just want to do their thing.

As poor as her team is, I truly think they know this is it as far as her ever doing another VMA performance.

She ended on a good (not great) note and now it's time to focus on AMAs, PCAs and BBMAs.

No problem.
I don't blame Beyonce or other artists because MTV and networks are so desperate they are willing to do anything to appease and get buy in from the artist.

Madonna pulled the same stunt with mariah.

Madonna's 2005 album sold 1/6 of Mariah's album.
Mariah had the biggest comeback of all time (at that time) but Madonna used her power to open the grammy's because that was the only way she was going to attend.

Now Mariah was nice about it although she tried a little harder than Britney would but eventually she caved in.

Difference is Madonna has more time in the game than Madonna but she did try to push to open the show.

The problem is BRITNEY DOESN"T PLAY THE GAME anymore. She just does her thing.

The crew that were there for Britney before are no longer there so they can give a damn about Britney other than having a legend to promote their show.

the past crew wouldn't do that even if she didn't want to play the game.

The new generation cares about other things.

It's a wash because the artist they appease don't draw in more viewers or make iconic memorable moments that will be talked about past a week like britney, Madonna and others did so it's probably not worth it but eh

Hello Army. I just want to say that I am so proud of Britney. The first album I bought was Oops! I Did it Again the week that it was released, and since then, I've had my ups and downs with stanning for her. I lost interest in her music around the Britney era, and it wasn't until Circus that I got back into her. Then, Britney Jean was hard to stomach, but I am so happy for her lately. It literally makes me smile to see her interviews, see that she's making great music again, and having fun performing. Even when I lost interest, I wanted her to be happy and successful. I'm back to full-stan mode.

And her performance was great! The other fanbases are so annoying right now. I'm so proud of her

Also, even the most casual fan has to like at least 2-3 songs from her classics (BOMT, Oops, Stronger, Lucky, Slave, Everytime, Toxic, Womanizer, Circus, TTWE, Work b and the new material)

It's not JUST HER though.

Think about it, why didn't drake perform? why didn't bieber attend?

The award show thing is a game.

The industry is a game.

Imagine if Beyonce had videos pull over 1B views and went #1 on hot 100 and had geniuine impact

and didn't win awards.

You all need to understand that most of these award shows are politics based and many of these stars show up knowing they are going to win.

that's why when Taylor used to do the fake surprise thing she'd get flack because there is a bargaining negotiating thing in place for certain artist to show up.

I remember when Fergie In the late 2000s cried or got emotional over a TCA. LOL.

she said that she knows this wasn't bought.

Why? because these things aren't voted on by fans. Same with the grammy's.

It's not just Britney.

it's just with the VMAs, Britney has a unique relationship because only she and madonna are the true representation of VMAs without propaganda.

We will never forget their individual or duo moments

So you'd expect MTV to respect that but it's a new MTV crew. They don't care. Britney and her team knows that.

Britney and team just uses them back for what they need.

I DO think after this VMAs, Britney and team will be done because even they have enough respect to know that the arrangement was set up that way.

Time to move on to AMAs, PCAs and BBMAs (her new crowning glory)
