2 of the 4 biggest pop girls releases ever were surprised releases so this is not an excuse
But I agree that maybe Katy needs to create more hype in order to sell a lot

200k is the new 600k so these numbers are alright. Y'all need to accept sales are over, they don't represent single's popularity anymore.

Katy was a digital FORCE, Roar opened up with 557k just 3 years ago. Justin Timberlake sold 379k (which was more than his last lead single that sold 315k) with a soundtrack single for the Trolls movie and debuted #1 in 2016.
This is a comeback single coming off a huge era, after headlining the Super Bowl and having two HUGE worldwide hits. There's no excuse. It stinks because I love Katy but she waited too long. If she would've released a single during her Super Bowl exposure it would've been ideal, now she has the same fate as the other pop girls bar Taylor Swift and Adele.

I'm cackling cos these are the same people that called others flops when they did better numbers or bashed things like streaming. Now they're desperately hoping for the best and complaining that the songs aren't on Spotify playlists.
Life comes at you fast.

keep in mind
Work debuted with 126k
Dangerous Woman- 117k
No- 113k
the only thing Britney has done is tweet about it, she has made no appearance nor has she released the video
this is NOT bad
she is only doing 40k less than Katy who had all the iTunes banners, released the video, and went on the Today show to promote
sales declined, numbers are lower. This is really bad for Katy's standards.

Katycats are the fanbase that dragged the ANTi era the least but ok.
As I said, I remain calm and think Rise will explode when we least expect.

This is better than I expected for Britney. And I'm not even that into sales/numbers but even I know 130k is REALLY good in today's sales climate. Stop being dramatic.

The decay And yes, I doubt many people know it's not a lead single. All those banners didn't help, either.

126k in 1.5 day, then 160k in its first full week.*
But yes, sales declined a lot.

This also includes a boost from the Taylor Swift feud (that was reopened just a day before this was released) and the Olympics. Without those, I doubt this would be selling 75K.
Let me tell you something. Katy, Calvin, Kim and Kayne are in cahoots. This was planned. They had someone contact Taylor’s team to “confirm” that she wrote the song. It makes no sense for her to out of the blue claim she wrote it. When they answered it was the plan all along that Calvin would take to twitter to try to make it appear that Taylor is trying to take him down. He mentions Katy, to make that feud fresh in everyone’s mind and she is standing right by to throw in her shady tweets. Next day…..BOOM her single drops, Calvin is partying with Kim (dancing to TIWYCF) and Kim is slamming her on her reality show.
These four are being extremely calculating and they are failing miserably. BTW, this was probably to also to test the waters on how a Katy/Calvin single would perform, I am pretty sure it would under perform based on these numbers right here.
All of this is just a plan to try to take her down, while capitalizing off her name. Time is indeed the ultimate truth teller.

I woke up and found it's true. Calvin Slammed Taylor on twitter, mentioned Katy Fued, Katy's standing right by to enter shady tweets, she releases new song next day, he parties with Kim while Kim slams her on her reality show.
That's real life hon. It only took a matter of time to figure this all out. Time: Indeed the ultimate truth teller.

It's obviously not a lead single. She's said a million times it's for the Olympics on her social media. The video is olympics themed and it doesn't have a radio deal. How else are people going to know of this song then? Magically hearing it from nowhere and assuming it's her lead? Ok.
