There's a renewed interest in female rap that wasn't there before Nicki. Those examples were from a time where rap itself was still commercially successful. You didn't have to have a pop hit to be relevant. Times have changed and music has too. Madonna asked LMFAO to be there because they had two of the biggest hits of 2011 and she was trying to appeal to a new generation. That's all. Nobody cared about them outside of those two songs. They weren't stars like Nicki was at the time. Saying that she's "on their level" is an insult to Nicki has everything she's achieved. She was way past them, even then.
And every avid pop enthusiast should be glad that Madonna is still here. She's really the mother of all our pop girls, and the last of the 80s legends left. We gotta appreciate her while she's here.
But it's true. No one pays attention to Muslims or more oppressed groups because there is no one capable of breaking out and becoming a "Muslim popstar!"
MIA speaks for intelligent people, it was never a gag against Beyonce.
