Itunes should encourage legal downloading by putting the price down for individual songs. AUD$2.19 is too much for one track. I no longer buy tracks costing this price as a result. And I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Illegal downloading is also much more convenient. You can download an album with the same quality in under 5 minutes without having to pay for it.
They should end cherrypicking to boost digital album sales as well. When an album is released, then the only song available for seperate purchase should be the first single. The second single would have a release date at which point it becomes available as a standalone track on iTunes. Kind of mixing the convenience of not having to buy a physical single while emulating the fact that you can't go to a record shop and cherrypick off physical albums.
Why would you waste 9 bucks on something digitally and burn it to a CD and make it look very tacky when you could easilly spend two more dollars more for the whole shebang, including album art and the case?
When I buy stuff off of iTunes, I have to burn it to a disc, that's my way of backing it up. But I'd rather go out and buy the album than spend the same amount to have a tacky looking burnt disc.
It's all in someone's preferance, but that's the way I see it. I, though, do download albums first before buying them. Albums are ****** lately, so if I love the album, I always go out and buy it. If it sucks ass, then maybe that artist should work harder on their projects

It's not just illegal downloading. Singles are dominating again, and now the digital age has allowed us to pick certain songs we want without having to suffer through having the whole album. And most consumers are casual listeners these days.
Physical albums last forever, that is if you take care of them.

If your iPod crashes, it's on your computer. If your computer crashes it's on your iPod. But it's a pain in the ass to figure out how to take songs OFF your iPod. You have to manually do it. All the file names are messed up.
I'm just saying, why wouldn't you rather have a CD to just pop in your computer over dealing with a mess like that?
It's not that bad well yes it's sad that each year albums sold less and less but comparing to 2009 actually it didn't made that big fell let's at least keep little fells each year no more than 10 o 15% and physical albums will continue for many years to come!!
also this is just US worldwide there are also many albums sold of many artist sooo let's keep supporting LEGAL music and that's it!

I'm sick of buying songs that cost $1.29 and my dad even threatened me to cancel my account because of my constant shopping.

If my iPod messes up, it'll still be on my computer regardless, likewise if the reverse happens. It's easy as hell to put songs on your iPod back on the computer people are just lazy.

That's true. An LSO (Large-Scale-Organisation) like Apple can do anything they want, since they have the market share and no real competitors. They were waiting for an excuse like the global financial crisis to jack prices up.

If my iPod and Computer crashes, I will have my CDs. I ain't rich. It would be a while before I could buy a new computer ranged around 500 to 1500, depending on the brand and what your looking for.
I prefer physical anyways. It's like movies. Would you rather go out and have the movie in your hands or simply just download it and watch it on the computer vs. the big HDTV?
