Throwing a pity party for the black community is NOT the same as giving them more resources and funding for schools and such, which would educate them and at least give them a fraction of the opportunities enjoyed by their more privileged counterparts.

They choose to not do better, because people like you tell them they can't do any better... that they are inferior, a lessor class. Blank checks are not going to make racism go away.

I'm not racist by no means... Look at Misty Copeland... the first black ballerina to head a major ballet company... she earned it, in spite of the fact of widespread racism against her. Oprah made herself a success in spite of her skin tone. Yes my friend, the American Dream exists for those who want it.

Honestly though, I feel like Racism would get worse in America if this happened. The racists in American would be incredibly angry if African Americans got money. The abuse in schools, in the streets, and all over would be very bad I feel. Sadly, I don't think it would would work / help, but I do feel like African Americans deserve SOME type of compensation for that horrible, horrible era in history. But I really wish something would work out, and the government can help end racism in America

I voted Yes in the Poll. African Americans should definetly be compensated in some way, whether it be helping African American communities, directly giving money, or something. Something that would be beneficial

All white people would be like: "why can't that money go to helping our terrible school systems or fixing potholes?"

Or as Tupac said in "Keep Ya Head Up" : "We got money for wars but can't feed the poor". that was back in the 90s, and look where we're still at today, same mother****ing situation .

but banks and wall street have more effect on a recession than the average individual does : P i don't think i've done enough research into the bailout to say if it was a bad idea or not, but they did have a reason behind it.
that said, i do think the government should do more for poorer people in the country, especially black people, but really it seems to me like they just don't care enough about them at all. it's sad. but that's how it's been for centuries and no matter how much the US claims otherwise, we really have just as bad of a class disparity as the rest of the first world.

I don't think they should.
There isn't much logic as to why they would since none of them were actually slaves...

I agree, but I think building schools in poor neighborhoods is a MUST. They (the US government) don't even have to start building several schools, but it would be nice to see the US government give these schools new supplies, such as newer textbooks, a SMART board in the Math and Science classrooms, etc.

have you seen the schools in Detroit? Giving a Smart Board to some of the school there would be like giving a 3ds to an 80's kid. It's . It is HORRIBLE and it needs to be fixed. Their is mold everywhere, holes in the middle of the floor, rodents, insects, diseases... They need to be redone 100%. Hopefully this will happen, eventually getting to smart boards, but it has a long way to go to even get to health requirements, let alone learning requirements

Because they take the easy way out...for many it's easier to go to a mailbox to get a check, than to go out n hustle to make something of yourself. The government enables, theirfore making the choice to be poor easier.
Empowerment comes from within, that starts with the individual...keep following the sheep and your bound to fall off that cliff.

the problems in the education system of schools in poorer neighborhoods runs a lot deeper than needing a smart board
