You had Ariana coming off a huge era and she couldn't even outsell Demi. DEMI of all people. And everyone expected her to come in with huge numbers *myself included*. Yet here's Selena, who has been around far longer than her, and drops the best song of the year (imo) and does really well for herself.

Now obviously, Ariana can still make a comeback. But the question was simply why/how Ariana failed to meet expectations, and Selena exceeded them.

But you're talking first week song sales. They don't mean **** in the grand scheme.

Not people comparing 2013/14 sales with 2015 sales when we all know sales have declined. Also Ariana is fine, I don't think she's "over" but she clearly lost the mini power she had in the My Everything era.
