How? If anything it's the complete opposite of the Born this way era - 25 is an example of how too follow up a monster era, BTW was an example of how not too.
-BTW was hyped for almost 9 months before it's release, and the campaign for it generated more forced hype than any campaign in recent memory. 25 was announced a month before and all the hype was organically generated.
- Hello was a geniunely huge hit with longetivty which easily matches SLY and RITD. BTW (song) had most of its success brought about by hype, faded quickly and failed to match PF and BR as her top signature hits
- 25 is still selling well and speeding towards 70% of 21s WW sales, whereas BTW barely scraped 40% of TFM sales. Also note that there was a huge gap between 21 and 25, during which sales fell sharply, while BTW was released almost immediately after TFM.
- On the subject of gaps between eras, Adele waited almost half a decade whereas Gaga basically went straight from TFM era into hyping BTW. Gaga was already overexposed at the start of her era, Adele was not.
- Public opinion is still firmly on Adeles side, the success of, say, the carpool karaoke show the GP is not "growing tired" of her. Unlike the eye-rolling response towards much of Gagas gimmicks in BTW (eg Jo)
- She's still selling very well and has avoided dropping into the lower regions of the charts like Gaga had by this point in her era. In fact she's pretty consistently been #1 or #2 worldwide since release.
Literally the only similarity is that the second single flopped. And even that's a dumb comparison since Judas was released when BTW had sold 0 copies and was promoted to high hell, whereas WWWY was released when 25 had already sold 18M copies and received very underwhelming promotion + no video.
