I'm one of those rare people who like Ayu's recent albums, but I believe that she can do better. There was some obvious shift after the 15th anniversary of her career, I hope she serves some masterpieces for the 20th.
It's been like half a decade, she could have gone in ANY direction with her music. What if she goes back to her old R&B and sounds dated, what if she tries this new PBR&B that's sweeping america, or experimental electronica, or an album of french covers. I need to kill my expectations cause after 5 years of waiting, i feel like ill end up disappointed just by circumstances
Y'all want her to slow down / go on hiatus / retire because you don't like her music or bc her sales are continually declining? She said in interviews she enjoys what she does and can't see herself stopping anytime soon, if that is the case why should she stop because you want her to? Back to the "y'all do way too much on Ayu " sentiment... cuz ch....

have you seen the songs on the top 10 of iTunes jp? half of it is always the good old R&B so I wouldn't call it dated.
Still, I think she'll stick with her sound going by Sakura Nagashi (which was flawless). Doubt she would change genres absurdly like going hardcore urban

true. I love her so much but girl those demos she's buying are like the cheapest **** out there. Wish she would hire some local composers/producers and just go back to basics.

Well she went from Distance to Exodus. It's not like she hasn't changed her sound in a dramatic way before. and even Exodus to Ultra Blue. Heart Station was more of the same sound. Although you're right Sakura Nagashi was very much so in classic Utada style, but what if it was just a one-off.
I'm not saying it's bad to make a departure from previous music. but what if i don't like it my resolution is weakening. This must be what the navy was/is going through
@y'all - Her release schedule has only gotten lighter as time has gone by. Like, she isn't literally putting out 20 different album/single/dvd/etc. releases within a year like she used to. The frequency of her releases or the time taken =/= the quality, honestly. If you look at her track record, she's done some of her best work in the shortest time periods. Duty was recorded and finished in like 2 months after concert tour 2000 was over, for example. The works you laud as her most creative, best, etc. were all finished in short amounts of time and most were recorded and released on top of one another. There's no telling if she spends more time on an album that it'd be better. Personally, what I think she needs to do is work with new people or get a new A&R team. If she keeps working with the same people (Yuta Nakano, Tetsuya Yukumi, Kazuhiro Hara and, as much as I love him, Tetsuya Komuro have plagued most of her work for a long ass time) it starts to get stale after a while. The songs most have called highlights of her recent work were done by people she hasn't collaborated with many times like RedOne's work on Movin' on without you or DAISHI DANCE's work on Sayonara.
Personally, I use most of her recent work but I can see why some would get tired of it tho.

Right? I mean she can't be serious with songs like Mercedes, Lippy, LOL, Fake Tongue etc
She should work with some indie producers or some ****.
