like... want to do something cool? put there a self cover of A Song for xx with the original instrumental or something like that. be honest about the reason for a re-release

But it's not about being cool, it's about presenting her old music that had the most impact to the general public once again. This is more-so for the people that grew up after the period where she was a dominate musical force, or use nostalgia as a driving force with those who experienced it. This isn't a new compilation, this is a 15 year-old one that's already left its "mark," it doesn't need any gimmicky new songs or anything like that. Sure, it'd be nice for her fans that already own all of these songs in their original, remixed, etc. form (me included) but I'm not seeing them as the target audience for this. It's more like, "oh, yeah, I remember all of these songs from when I was a teenager!" or "I've heard about Ayumi Hamasaki but I don't really know her that well... I know these songs were really popular years ago, let me see what all the fuss is about....".
Don't get me wrong, I'd love new material re-recorded, remixed or w/e form, but it's just not necessary in this instance imo.

If it were a re-release of one of her studio albums or a brand new best album it'd make more sense to include things like that tbh
inb4 that awkward moment when all of the songs end up rerecorded as a surprise or something and this ends up not making sense.
