I mean think about the once hugely successful fads of yesteryears. If Ashanti had died right after her debut album era, people would've been on here saying she was going to be the number one star for the next 20 years and obviously that's not what happened...
People give Aaliyah so little credit here. Sure, people love to overrate artists when they die but does not change how influential she was. She was one of, if not the pioneer of alternative R&B.
